Genz Benz GBE750 question

Sign in to disble this ad
Does anyone know if it's normal that my clip limit light blinks sometimes ? My output limiter switch is always on and my eq is almost flat on my amp and my bass too . I'm using my GBE with an Aguilar GS410 4 ohms .

The thing is that when the limit light is blinking, it makes me think i have to lower my master volume a bit ,but that's making my amp, well...not as loud that it should be IMO.

Should i let the light blink and keep on playing at that volume, will i end up damaging something? By the way, it doesn't make any clipping sound in the speakers.

Thank you

Only go by your ears, especially with Genz. I run my preamp in clipping all the time, no worries.

Ok, i tought that when the clip limit light lights up, it means that the power amp is clipping ?

Which clip light are you talking about? The clipping led's on the preamp or the clip-limit light by the power switch?

I think i got the answer in the manual, if i get it right, when the clip limit light blinks, it means that if i drive it 6 db beyond this point, the limiter will gradually act like a tube amp saturating at high power.(with the output limiter switch on)

So when my amp will saturate at high power(6 db beyond clip limit)it will not damage anything ? Perhaps my ears...

correct. In the end, use your ears. If you like it....run with it...you won't harm the amp.

If I had to do it over again, we'd do the lights differently.....they seem to freak some people out.

Alrighty then,,,

you may now change your Eden66 username to: GB66, Genzy66 or some other Genz Benz derivative(sp?).

As you've now been GenzBenzified with the great CS they offer us.

Enjoy that GBE750 I sorta miss mine but still quite happy with my very capable Neopak *2 ohm modded.

In other words, that's when it will start to sound REALLY good! Enjoy!

Eden 66,
I run nearly the same rig. GBE750 and DB410. Sounds so damn good!!!!! Where are you normally running your preamps gain and vols, and where are you running your volume?

Yeah, the one I had freaked me out, too... The light definitely comes on very early. Playing LOUD through an Aguilar GS412. Damn it sounded great though. I'd be happy to play that rig again.....
