Genz Benz Head Question.

Sign in to disble this ad
I just picked up a nice pair of Genz Benz cabinets. A 2x10 XB Extended Range, and a GB 115B single 15. Both are 8 ohm cabinets rated at 250 watts for the 2x10,and 300 watts for the single 15. I want to use a Genz Benz head and was looking at the Shuttle 3.0. My question is,will this head be able to power these for small venues,or should I go to the 6.0?

If they are earlier version Benz cabinets, check to see if they have speakon as well as quarter inch outputs. I think Shuttles only have speakon connectors.

A 3.0 will power them fine but a 6.0 will allow you to get louder. Depends on the volume you need.

You can always adapt from speak-on to 1.4" or change the connectors on the cabinet (most can be changed with some skilled work and effort).

the 3.0 certainly should work for smaller venues, and many medium and large venues as well. the 6.0 would be a little insurance, though.

Just get the 12.0 max and you will be set for just about whatever you want to do! These amps are excellent.

won't argue that, but a 12.0 could take out those speakers pretty easily.

The GB cabinets only have quarter inch connectors. The GB 3.0 has a speakon, and a quarter inch output jack. In a perfect world,it would be nice to try both heads to see what they can do.

3.0 owner reporting!

I can handle all kind of gigs with my 3.0 and 4x10 cab.

If the 3.0 is enough for you depends on the voicing of your cabs. As long as they're punchy en provide enough low mids there shouldn't be a problem.

The 12.0 will be exactly like the 6.0 since it has 2 600w power amps inside, not a single 1200w power amp.

Not sure if it's still available but TBer Freddels had a 12.0 for sale. Excellent condition and excellent price.

right, but hook one speaker to each side and it could easily take those speakers out.
