Genz Benz Shuttle 3.0 with extension cab?

Sign in to disble this ad
I did a search but couldn't find anything. Does anyone use their 3.0-8t with an extension cab? I was thinking of adding the 12" cab, but I'm a little wary about combining the 8 and 12. Would I be better off just scrapping (selling) the 3.0 and pick up the 6.0-12t? Am I just overanalyzing things like I usually do?

Thanks!

It's always best to use matched pairs, so either go with an 8" ext for what you have, or if you need to be louder, start over with 2 12's.

Meh, kind of what I thought, but thanks for confirming.

I pretty much love my Shuttle 3.0-10T+10T rig. Light and powerful, compact and powerful. What's not to like? Well, in my case, the fly in the ointment (so to speak) is my 63-lb Mesa/Boogie Walkabout Scout 1x15. So, my next gig, I'm taking the 13-lb head out of the cabinet and pairing it with the 2-10T cabinets. I hope the result is tonal nirvana.

But the Shuttle 3.0 is a fine little amp.

hi
is it completely ridiculous to use a 410 hartke transporter as an extension to a shuttle 3.0-8T? will it ruin both? cant afford to start over

The Shuttle 6.0 and 12- inch cab can't be beat for the size and price:

I've run my Shuttle 3.0-10T with 12" and 15" extension cabs repeatedly over the lat 3+ years and it sounded great. Ideally, yeah - match the cabs. But since we're not talking about forcing the smaller cab to take more than it's share of the head output, and you'll be stacking vertically, you "should" be fine.

I would use the 3.0 and 410, and leave the 8T at home.
My own setup is something relatively similar. Usually I'm using a 6.0-12T + 12T, but for bigger shows (outdoors) I just run the 6.0 into my 810. Thats the beauty of the Shuttle combos, IMO. Flexibility.

I traded my Shuttle 6.0-12T for a Shuttle 3.0-10T and extension 10T cab. I love it. I like the 10's much better. I like that when you stack them you can tilt the top one up for better hearing. I like that it's loud - 300 watts into a "2x10" is plenty for me without PA. I like that each part is around 16 pounds.

Definitely. The 8 will add nothing and you might blow it.

That's why they make it easy to unscrew and take with you. If the 410 is 4 ohm, you'll get 300 wats out of that little head.

I've got a 3.0 8T combo as well.

I also have 2 Avatar cabs - a 2x10 and 2x12. I've used the combo with the 2x10 before, but wasn't getting the sound I expected ( because of the mismatch ).

So I started using the 3.0 head with the 2 external cabs - much better experience.

If you can't get another cab to go with it, than you can use the 8 with something else, but I would make sure that you weren't planning to get too loud with it.

(Each of my cabs is 8Ohm by the way. So I'd get only half the power with 1 cab)

unfortunately the transporter is 8ohm. i didn't use the 8" sat & sunday like you guys suggested. thanks. it worked out ok. i couldve been louder but o well. guess i have to buy another 410 or something.
i love the way two cabs sound anyway. am i on crack or is better to have two cabs spread apart vs. stacked? i like the way it sounds spread apart & facing diff directions. seems larger than life itself
