Genz Benz Shuttle 6.0 - Buzzing and Cutting Out!

Help!

I have a Shuttle 6.0 with a NEOX 2@12 cab. When I plug my active basses into the head, I get a crackle, a buzz and lose my signal when the instrument cord moves.

I replaced batteries in both basses. I replaced ALL cords. I replaced the tube (as suggested by the folks at Genz) and unplugged the cabinet and ran through headphones. I still get the same problem.

I plugged in an acoustic and electric guitar at low volumes and the problem ceased.

Is there a special setting for active electronics that I don't know about?

I'm going to call back Jeff tomorrow but I was wondering if anyone might know what the problem is.

Thanks in advance!

-Billy

THere is no special setting for active basses for the Shuttle.
How did it sound when you used headphones?
Do you have the problem when you use passive basses?
And it's only when the cord moves? Odd.

Strange,I get no issues with active or passive basses. I can't imagine, especially since it's when you move the lead...???

Have you tried cleaning the jack with Deoxit and a Q-Tip?

May be a long shot, but check the output jacks on your basses.

I recently went nuts because I began to get crackles and buzzes when my cord moved and sometimes the sound disappeared. I checked and rechecked my amp and cords, and tried contact cleaner. Didn't help. One day, I noticed that the output jack on my bass had begun to come loose. After I tightened it, no more problems.

I'll check my output jacks. Weird that it would happen with both basses at the same time though.

Same thing happens when I use headphones.

I don't own a passive bass that's why I tried both guitars and they worked fine.

Thanks for the responses.

It sounds to me like its a problem with the input jack on your bass; maybe the battery is dying???

Almost certainly a problem with the bass jack, jack nut, or something intermittent in the bass electronics. YOu can always PM me and I will help you troubleshoot it.

All Fixed!

Thanks so much for the help. It turns out BOTH basses had problems. The ground wire came undon in one and a different wire was pinched in the other. Everything works great now!

Wow. How weird that not one but both of the basses you were trying had issues. Glad you got it figured out and are back on track.

I'll bet that rig sounds sweet with acoustic guitar.

My Shuttle works great as an acoustic amp too.
