Genz-Benz Shuttle 6 - help match a cabinet

Sign in to disble this ad
I was convinced on another thread to keep my GB Shuttle 6 and to try another cabinet (currently a GK 410 BLX). I play from praise and worship to metal(ish), and I am looking for a fuller sound with more punch and good bottom. My budget is $600 or a little more and I'm not concerned with the size of the speakers, just the sound.

Have you tried pushing in the low boost button. It doesn't turn up the bass. I read here that it actually lowers the lowpass filter cutoff frequency. I tried it and it sounds much better that way.

I think it was "hasbeen: to bring bass @ 2, mid @ 2, treble @ 10, low filter in, mid scoop in. I have gain at 1 volume at 11. Master to taste and it opened the amp for me Avatar B210, P-bass. It may bring life back to your cab. In the streamliner thread the amp and cab match is a toss towards what tone you want. I'm also in the same boat looking for a "better" cab for my 6.0.

Yeah, I do, but there is just something that is off about the GK 410 BLX for me.

I am using the Shuttle 6.0 with a Schroeder 2x12, the 4 ohm version with the one speaker angled. It's very compact and kicks serious butt. I do use the "bass" button on, and I also use an EBS ValveDrive preamp for more of a tube sound. It sounds great.

Or stay all Genz and get a 212. I have been looking for one of the NeoX212's for a while now, currently I am running a NeoX112T and it sounds great.

Those NeoX cabs get great reviews.
I can't swing the $, so I'm getting
an Avatar TB153 to go with a
Streamliner 600. Similar, but not
exact match with what you're doing.

I like the Genz-Benz cabs, but they are a little expensive. I'm looking at TC Electronic, Hartke, Ampeg and Epifani PS series as well.

I use mine with a pair of NeoX 112s. No complaints. A NeoX 212 is great as well. I went with 2 112s for ease of movement.

I play my Shuttle 6 with the docking G-B 12T and a Shuttle 2x10 cab. Certainly punchy and good bottom to my ears.

+1 on the settings.

I'm using an Avatar B410 Neo, gets the job done for club work.
