| | | | Genz Benz Shuttle 9.0 Appreciation Thread This thread is solely for those of us who love this amp. If it's not your cup of tea you might look for another thread please.
Since John axed the other thread, I'll start the new one.
After the honeymoon is long over, I am so still in love with this amp.
The tone/sound delivers whatever I desire very quickly and easily. It's definitely a plug and play amp but yields a wide variety of sonic flavors.
It loves Electric Bass and Upright Bass.
It hammers like Thor. |

Yes the Golights are sweet cabs. No complaints from them at all. The little tiny 37 pound 2x10 holds up well to the 500 watts at 8 ohms the 9.0 dishes out and is such a delight to schlep around.
I'd like to try out the Genz cabs but if Steam Boats were a dime a piece, all I could do is run up and down the bank and holler "ain't that cheap". Quote:

I don't keep all the little blue lights on all the time, just turned them on for the pic. Though I use the Low Boost and Mid Cut a good bit for Electric Bass and turn off the Low Boost when I go to Upright Bass.
I have become very accustomed to how this amp operates and would be lost with something else. All the controls/features fit me like a glove. |

1 Having two would allow leaving one at a location and still having one to carry around.
2 Using one on the small/medium gigs.
3 Breaking out both for large gigs.
4 My 4x10 and 1x15 cabs are bigger/heavier than I want to carry at one time. I'd gladly trade all my cabs for a matching pair of 2x10's.
I'd love to have a 12T combo it would be perfect for Acoustic Upright gigs. |

I do love that little 9.0 and with a pair of 210's one would have a rig for any gig. Now to find a good, light, great sounding 210 cab. |

Even at festivals where I have backline, I take my Shuttle with me and just use the cab on stage. Sometimes theres an SVT onstage and sound guys think that the svt will kill the little sucker....wth do they know??? HA!
I usually run the input volumes around half way. Master on full. and bass boost on, eq is almost always flat otherwise.
Main cab is a Hartke hydrive 410. I wish they made a 212 hydrive ported.

| | | | Has any of you tried out different preamp tubes in your Genz Benz? I have a Shuttle MAX 6.0 and really like a Boogie 12ax7. This tube has more character than the stock tube when you push it. This way I use the FET channel for lean and the tube channel for some grind. Was wondering if anyone else tried different tubes... |

I have used both Telefunken and Amperex 12ax7's and have heard improvements from both over the stuck Ruby. If that Mesa sounds good to you, go with it. I have also heard that JJ ecc83's sound good in there as well, they are pretty inexpensive to boot. |
