Genz Benz shuttle 9.0 or shuttlemax 12.0

Sign in to disble this ad
Hello. When I consider trying a GB shuttle, it comes down to these two, 9.0 or 12.0max. My cabs are - a single aggie db112 for practice, two db112's for small/med gigs, and an eden 410xlt for larger more rock type gigs. All cabs are 8ohm, so I'm thinking the 9.0 wattage wise at least makes more sense with my cabs, but two different channels and an included footswitch of the 12.0 is tempting. Also, at least with the ebay vendors, the 12.0 is comparatively priced. So some questions:
1 Do they sound the same on the tube channel?
2 do you find the 12.0 fet channel useful and how would you describe it?
3 anything else I should consider?
Thanks in advance

I can't speak for the 12.0 but the 9.0 I have is a great amp. Lots of headroom and enough eq for me. If I wanted to ever run 2 4 ohm cabs the 12.0 would be the way to go.

I've never tried the Shuttle 9.0 but I own a ShuttleMax 6.0 and I believe that the 12 and 6 have the same preamps.
Anyways, maybe it's just me and maybe it's because I've had this amp for only about a week but the two channels sound very much the same to me besides the fact that the tube channel can be overdriven.

I just got the 12, a friend of mine has the 6. They sound quite similar. I normally use FET, the tube channel is a plus. You can blend the two in any balance to your liking. The 12 is good engineering on GB's part. I have two 4 Ohm cabs and one 8 Ohm cab, I usually mix cabinets for a 2.6 Ohm load on other amps. With the 12 the two power amps work separately, like my Little giant 1000, so I can use both 4 Ohm cabs simultaneously with no worries.

I think the 9 is warmer sounding than the tube channel on the 12.. And th e9 really has some major booty in the lows... Super portable too... You do have more EQ options on the 12.. and the ability to run all 3 cabs if you chose to.
But if you run just your 8 ohm Eden cab you are not getting the benefits of the shuttle 12.
The shuttle 9 would be the way to go.. again if you plan on all 3 cabs get the 12

8 ohm cabs? If so the 9. The 12 isn't made for driving those too well separately.

+1 The Shuttle MAX 12.0 will kill if you were going to use all 3 cabs. But, if you were just going to run two 8ohm cabs,
I agree with svtb15 the Shuttle 9.0 is the way to go.

I use the Shuttle MAX 12.0 with the Uber 410 / 212 combo. Absolutely kills. I primarily use the FET channel and use the
Tube for a boost. The 9 has the same 3 tone shapers Bass Boost, Mid Scoop & Treble Boost. But, for 8 ohm cabs I think
the 9.0 is still your best bet!!! Let us know what you descide!
