I've been looking around for a new rig lately (as anybody whose seen this thread will know) and am wondering about how pairing a Shuttle 3.0 with an Euphonic Audio Wizzy 10 will sound. I know mixing brands for heads and cabs can bring varied results, but I've been hard pressed to find much information on a Genz Benz + EA rig via the search here.
So, I've been looking for something that will handle a low B well, for my electric stuff, and sound good with upright. Also, I'd like the cab (or cabs) to match the Shuttle's ohm impedance and be in around it's RMS Watt Ratings. The Wizzy matches reasonably well W/ohm wise, and has a reputation for sounding good with a B and an upright, but like I said, it seems that pairings aren't always that simple. If you TBers have any input on experience with pairing these, or any Genz Benz and Euphonic Audio it'd be much appreciated. Also, at this point in my search, I'm open to any recommendations!

Now, I've decided on a head and have entered the world of cabs. Basically looking for some information on running an EA cab with a Genz Benz head!

The Genz Benz STL-10T cab seems interesting, though no stores in Toronto and area have one to test out. I have been borrowing a friend's GK MBX112 (now discontinued, but the 17lbs is very welcome over my 28lb Polytone MiniBrute). I'm still on the hunt for a cab, the GK doesn't cut it well enough. If you get the Wizzy 10, let me know how it goes... I'm close to ordering it, but I'm holding back because I don't want to get dinged with customs charges. (Hopefully a friend goes to the US soon!) |

I'm sort of looking into an EA head for the Wizzys, maybe the new Micro through a set of them, since it can handle 2 ohms just fine. I'll be sure to let you know how it goes!
A note about customs, as long as you specifiy USPS, you shouldn't get dinged with fees. They hand all shipments over to Canada Post at the border so we don't get nailed.

Very loud, very punchy, very small. Only problem here is that I doubt the Wizzy 110 and the VL110 sound alike, though I guess they are in the same tonal universe. Also, the Shuttle 3.0 and the STL900 sound very different.
Having said that, I do like the Genz Benz/EA match. I had a GBE1200 on top of a VL110 x 2 stack. I got rid of the GBE1200 because it was too heavy, and got rid of the VL110 cabs because they were power hogs. I bought another pair of VL110 cabs because the Streamliner has a ton of power. I'm pretty that the Wizzy cab is much more efficient, but you might want to PM some Wizzy owners to confirm that.
awc - Club Bass has not carried GB for quite some time. Cosmo Music has some GB in stock, but call before you go if you're looking for something specific. I have seen the 10T cab there, but it may have been part of an amp/cab combo. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
