Genz Benz Shuttlemax Bag Alternative

Sign in to disble this ad
There have been quite a few questions, including many from me, reagarding a good sturdy bag for the Shuttlemax series. While the official Shuttlemax bag is nice, I feel that it did not offer enough padded protection. I found a bag that better meets my picky standards, it is made by GigSkinz and called the Serato. It is expensive, $129 USD, but it is very well padded, has many pockets and I feel it protects the amp better.

Front

Back, you can carry like a backpack, messenger bag or briefcase

Front fastener and a bit of the "skid proof" bottom

With the front flap open

Pocket 1, where I have decided to keep the footswitch

Inside pocket 1, nice and padded

Main compartment, notice the pockets on the side

Notice on the compartment cover, yep another pocket

I think that this is a great bag and WELL worth the price. If I ever buy a Shuttle, I will be buying one of the smaller bags from this company.

I am not trying to insult Genz Benz, I love their products, but this bag offers more security, at least in my mind.

I just ordered an Odyssey Redline bag for digital controllers, another DJ type bag. The interior dimensions of the main compartment are 17.5" x 13" x 3.5", ought to make it a good fit. I'll add my opinions when it gets here but heres some pics from the web, seems very useful. Costs around $89 from various vendors on the web. Matches the color of the 9.2 too :P

Well I got it today, the Odyssey bag that is. In fact some large online retailer who will go unnamed sent me 2 by mistake. And it fits perfect, fits the amp and footswitch with lots of room and compartments for other stuff. The amp fits in the main compartment perfectly, like a glove. I bought $2 worth of synthetic felt at a local fabric shop to cover the unused velcro hooks. Wish I had a camera.

Anyways, highly recommended if you want a beefier bag for the Shuttlemax. Odyssey makes a few different bags so make sure if you are thinking about it get the model I show in the picture in my previous post.

I believe the Odyssey bag is the BRLDIGITAL.

I accidentally ordered the BRLTECH: fail. too small by an inch.

I've gotten a few PMs over the last few months asking for my thoughts and for some pics, so here it is.

The bag is sturdy and fits the amp, footcontroller and extra goodies nicely, the padding is sufficient and the exterior edge of the bag (where the front, back and sides of the amp face) has a thin steel reinforcement. I picked up a tiny bit of felt from a fabric store to stick onto some of the exposed velcro (for the movable/detachable pads), cost me like an extra 2 bucks. The amp compartment itself is a glove-like fit. All in all a good bag.

Pics:

There are two main zippered compartments show above, there are 4 more smaller zippered compartments besides these.

The black horizontal line in the pic above is where I cut and stuck the felt fabric.

There are rubber feet on the bottom but with the weight distribution of the amp and foot pedal it likes to lean a bit, my only complaint.

So there you go. Anyone in the Seattle area looking to pick one up shoot me a PM also.

Also as someone noted BRLDIGITAL is the model I'm talking about.
