Volume and gain @ 2
Bass @ 11
middle @ 2
Mid freq @ 600
Treble @ noon
Master @ 2
Every settings sounds warm and balanced. Strangely enough I donīt need to fiddle with the EQ on my basses.
I only have to use the balance control/pup-switches to radically change my sound.
Great amp and speakers. Eager to hear if the AG Tonehammer 500 can give the Streamliner a match

Still using the mid freq at 2.5K

| | Registered User | | | | | I just received my SL 900 and with my passive J and P basses, I can not get much volume or roar out of the amp unless the gain switch is pushed in ( engaged) or I run the preamp volume at around 3 o clock-otherwise it seems like there is nothing to drive the power section to get the amp to start to get nice volume or roar. I noticed that some of the settings described in this post have the gain switch out and the preamp volume at 9 o clock with passive basses so I thought something might be wrong with my amp. But when I called Genz Benz support , they said I should be running it with the gain switch in for most passive basses. Are any of you getting any volume with your 900 with passive basses with the gain switch out and the pre amp volume only at 9-10 0 clock ? Any other thoughts on what am experiencing with my 900? Thanks |

My favorite setting thus far is:
Gain - engaged
Gain knob - 1:30
Volume - 11:00
BASS - 11:00
Mid - 2:00
Mid Freq - 2.5k
Treble - 11:00
Master - As high as they will let me!
If you haven't tried pushing the gain on this amp, you owe it to yourself to try it. |

A Streamliner 900 has replaced my Markbass LMT. After recording a couple of band rehearsals, I realize I need to tweak more - the recordings sound a bit boomy on the low end. I'll cut the bass, boost some mids based on others' settings and see if I can't cut through better.

Settings wise, I really need to sit down and try some stuff, been way too busy to experiment. This threads definitely worth the sub though, gives me somewhere to start!

For practice at home at low volumes I will use the mids at 225 or 600 but live it is always at 2.5k. I got this amp when they first hit the market, in that first wave, so I have had plenty of time and many situations to have learned it. I can say easily now that it is the first amp that I have ever had where I can just set it and play the rest of the night without any tweaking hardly at all. Other amps I have just fiddled away trying to dial it in for my tone goals, but not this one. It does not do everything but it does everything I need. Great piece of kit.

I think I'ma get a notebook and kinda archive some of these tones for future use. Interesting that noone has suggested anything to really push the gain so far, I like the fuzz it can achieve. I'll report back later with some settings, hopefully you guys will dig em.

Anyone care to shed some light? I know there a vid review on youtube from ed friedlander (which is great btw), he mentions it there too but again only in passing.

Started off with everything flat 12 noon, etc., during warm up intending to tweak as needed. Never touched anything but the volume. Sounded rich and warm, just as I'd hoped. Playing again tomorrow so we'll see if the knobs get turned but as of tonight I don't think I'll have to fiddle with this amp much at all.

Anyone looking for flat/hi-fi/more control etc.. the Presonus EQ3b is a bargain in the fx loop
..yeah, i know, someday i will do a better job of saving this rather than a screen capture...lol
