Genz Benz Uber 410 + 212 combination

Sign in to disble this ad
I currently have a Genz Benz GBE 1200 which I love and am interested in updating my speakers to do it justice.

Is there anyone in TB land that drives the GB uber 410 and 212 combination with the 1200 and rates it?

Also, any other good speaker combinations with a 1200 would be useful, Genz Benz or otherwise.

I haven't driven the Uber410/212 combo with the GBE 1200, but I have gigged out with the ShuttleMAX 12.0 and the Uber410/212, and this was a great combination. My guess is that the GBE 1200 would be equally good.

Tom.

Well, if it sounded good with the ShuttleMAX 12.0 i'm guessing you would be right about it sounding good with the 1200. Thanks for the help Tom.

I know the Uber 410 sounds fantastic with my GBE 1200 - no reason to think the 212 would be anything less

The Uber's 410/212 are scarey. I did video's on youtube with the Max12.0 but the 1200 will do seriousey killer tone wise

go to youtube.com and search Fretlessboy or Dennis Michaels Bass

I would think that either two Uber 410 cabs or two Uber 212 would sound better than mixing the two (sure the mix sounds good, just not as good as two of the same model).

BTW, if you have a GBE1200 and need to get as loud as that with two Uber 410...well, D&MN! that is some serious volume levels (like outdoor festival with no PA support loud).

I can see using two 212.

If you have money to burn, buy one Uber 410 and two Uber 212, then you can report back what works the best.

I had a few shows with this winning combo along with the Shuttle MAX 12.0 now and wanted to share a little bit about them.

The Uber 410 is just amazing. The mids just cut from this cab and is very aggressive. The tweeter is sweet as well and offers just the right amount of highs without being harsh. I set it at about 35%. The lows are very nice but not as deep and wide as the Epifani UL cabs. The Eminence speakers are tightly grouped and really creates that in your face punch. Simply stunning.

The Uber 212 is something else. I dont have alot of experience with 12s so I wasnt sure what to expect. But, this cab is just killer. The lows are chest pounding and quite clear and round. I was pleasantly surprised how much I love this cab. The tweeter again adds the right amount of highs to get notes ringing out. I actually turned the tweeter down to about 25% and this cab was rockin'!! I am tempted to get another one and rock a 412 stack some night!!!

The combo of the 212s and the 410s is like having a complete full range system. The mixture of the chest pumping 212s and the in your face aggressive 410s produces a bass tone to die for. On Saturday I played a 500 seat theater and was able to turn the rig up and stand out about the 3rd row from the stage. It was just amazing. The clearity and overall tone blew me away. The 212s had the place shaking and the 410s were cutting through it all. Everyone in the band said my rig sounded incredible. Especially my guitar player that said I was crazy for selling my other cabs.

I get PA support at all my shows and we used our regular sound guy this past Saturday. He is very familiar with my sound and he prefered the Uber cabs over my Epifani. I agree. The Uber 410 / 212 combo is nothing short of amazing and I would recommend this setup for any touring or clubing musician. I believe there is some audio from the show mentioned above. Once I get ahold of it I will post some clips so you can hear it.

Cheers to Jeff and crew for producing an amazing rig. It is nothing short of awesome!!!

It's good to read your reviews Joey. It sounds like this 410/212 stack handles larger venues very well. I used to have an Epi 410UL-II but prefer the Genz Benz sound. It seems to stake out a middle ground between the more open Epifani UL and more focused Bergantino AE lines. The gigs I play I don't need more than one cab but I really like my SM12 and Uber 212. I haven't had the chance yet to hear the Uber 410 and don't have a real need to acquire one other than completing the ultimate bass rig but it's on my GAS list.

If I were running a GBE 1200, a pair of Neox 212Ts is how I'd roll.
