Genz Benz Uber 410 rattle "problem", anyone??

Sign in to disble this ad
Hi friends,
I've just received my Uber 410, the 4 ohm version, I'm using it with a LM Tube 800, I'm really impressed with this combination, it's super powerfull and I really like the response of the cab, it really shines when I play my 8 string fretless through it, really, that cab "sing" with my bass guitar.

Anyway, I heard a rattle from the crossover back plate, expecially when I was playing a low B or some harmonics. I tried to remove the back plate and to tighten the external and internal screws, in this way the rattle it's almost disappeared but at high volumes I can still hear something.

Anyone with this "problem"?
A solution?

This can be caused by something as simple as a wire touching the back plate. We have also found that in some cases the noise appeared to come from the cabinet but in fact was from something in the room vibrating, and this can be very hard to locate.

Have you tried the cabinet outside to eliminate the possibility that it's from something in your environment?

I'll bet is has shaken some dust loose.

Actually, things vibrating in a room causes a lot of grief (aside from stuff falling off the shelf), you secure something only to find another and another thing rattling. I even saw a rattling problem where it was the drywall that was moving on the studs, the nails were not very tight (over time this can happen) and there was a squeekig sound. Customer resolved it by having a contractor come in and screw the drywall tight to the studs and then mud all the holes and texture. Worked great.

Thank you for the answer.
I've tried in two different places, the noise almost disappeared after tightenig the screws, now there's something only when I do some harmonics, I can listen it in the back of the cabinet near the plate at lower volumes too, in this case the buzz is really low. Anyway it seems to be something simple like you said, I've only to reopen it and check better.

And, obviously other things are buzzing in the room!
I think it's really one of the best cabs in the market, I really like how you have "tuned" the cab, it's really the punchiest thing I've heard
I think I'll have good gigs with it
