I finally decided on the Genz Benz Streamliner 900 and should be receiving it from a fellow TBer this next week!
I'm now in search of a cabinet to replace my Ampeg 8x10. The fEARful 15/6/1 is definitely in my sites (built by authorized builder), but the following just came up as well. Is this a deal that I CANNOT pass up? NEEDS TO GO ASAP! Genz Benz 4x10 For Sale!!!
Cost is definitely a factor for me and I'm looking at a ~$700 difference here. With that said, if I think the fEARful is the "end all" for me, it's worth continuing to save up.
What are the significant differences between the fEARful 15/6/1 and the Uber Bass 4x10 in your experience (with the SL900)?
Thank you.
Edit: What's the difference sonically between the Bergantino HS410 (discontinued?) and AE410?

I don't really need a cab, but if I were in LA I'd buy that in a heartbeat. Even if you didn't like it you could turn around and easily sell it for $100 more...and that would be considered a steal.

I have a 4 ohm Uber 410 and a pair of 8 ohm 15/6/1 cabs. The 15/6/1 is more even top to bottom with more low end extension and more even dispersion. The Uber 410 has more of the traditional 410 sound with a tighter low end and a bit more perceived punch and volume at the same amp gain. Personal taste varies so it's hard to say which you'll like better but I can say that the Uber 410 rocks with the STM900! It has just the right thump to it. For $500 I'd definitely grab it and try it out. As mentioned you can always sell it if you want to go for the 15/6/1.

Since that's the case I would get the Genz 410. They are very high quality cabs, IMO it is well worth $500 go for it.

I'm still waiting to get a response from the above CL advertiser, so I don't know how many ohms this is.
If 8ohms will I still have plenty of stage volume or will I be left wanting/needing to add a 2nd cab? I'm assuming, if 4ohm, that it's plenty loud, but I'm not going to be used to having a short 410 cab behind me, after hauling around an 810 for the past 15 years

| | | | look at I’d look at the fEARFUl 1212/6 first. Two 12” speakers, 6” midrange, and horn tweeter with tilt-back handle and big wheels on it. Looks like the perfect cab, IMO. |

| Yes, I run a SL900 with a 4 ohm Uber 410 and own a pair of 8 ohm 15/6/1 cabs which is why I posted #4.

When I grow up, maybe I can get a couple 15/6/1s too
Thanks for the feedback.

Thank you.
Edit: What's the difference sonically between the Bergantino HS410 (discontinued?) and AE410? | I cannot comment on the fearful cabs, but have extensive experience with both berg cabs and the GB UB. First off, the Bergantino HS410 is the benchmark by which all other 410's are judged. It does not get better than this ever. The AE410 sonically is a slightly more "aggressive" version of the same flavor of ice-cream.
There are a great many manufacturers that make a great amp and totally drop the ball on their enclosures. Throw a couple of speakers in a box and there you go. The Bergantinos are so good because each individual component is designed from the ground up to work with all the other components as a whole and within the framework of the science of accurately reproducing a full range electric bass signal, using the best possible components. That's it.... there's no magic to it... just absolute adherence to the science of electrical and mechanical engineering as pertains to sound reproduction, without respect to materials cost and R&D expense.
The Genz Benz cabinets are the only "Mass-Market" enclosures that come close to being as good as the Bergantinos... and they do come close, but are not as detailed in the midrange, do not perform as well at the limits of their designed performance, and are not made a sturdy. That is to say, they fall short of being as good as the very best available anywhere, while still being significantly better than absolutely everything else out there which I've experienced.... and that included virtually EVERYTHING outside of Fearful, Barefaced and Lophat....
