Hey there TBers! I've been thinking about reducing the weight of my rig (SvT3pro and 410hlf). I was waiting on the new Ampeg portaflexes and of course haven't seen them anywhere. I stopped in a local music store before a business meeting that I haven't been in in at least 10 years. They had this Genz Shuttle used for $299. I tried it out and snatched it right up. That's a decent deal right?

Also, any recos on a lightweight cab to replace my Ampeg 410 hlf? I still need to move the air and not rely on our PA or FOH.

Hey man,

Since you've got a GB now, it might be worth looking into GB's "new" 600wRMS 1x12's. I believe they're Neo... the weight isn't more than 35 lbs.

From my understanding the Shuttles and these 1x12's are made for each other. I've only had the pleasure of playing through one 1x12, which sounded pretty good and nearly blew the walls off the store. But, I've heard having two of these puppies, one in each arm when walking through the door a gig, you can really push some air around, and some meat with it.

Check em out and decide for yourself.

Assuming the amp is in good working condition, $300 is a very good deal. I paid $400 for mine, used, a year ago. Aside from a scratchy Master volume pot, it was in perfect working condition.

I was in the same boat as you. I was waiting and waiting for a Ampeg PF500. Well I picked up a minty used Shuttle 6.0 for $375. To tell you the truth. I could not be more tickled. This thing is everything I ever wanted in a bass amp. It sounds beautiful, fat, smooth. I am extremely happy with it....

I however AM looking for an Ampeg 410HLF... : ) Put casters on yours and you should be goooooooood to go with that rig.

WOW!

You guys NEVER cease to amaze me.

Oh and GREAT deal on the Shuttle 6.0

I would pair 2 112 cabs with it to get a nice thump. Go with the GB neo cabs for a lightweight rig around 65 pounds!

First, congrats on the amazing deal!

I love my Shuttle 6.0.

It'll drive a 410 cab fine and I think the Hydrives sound quite nice.

I'm moving to using mine with a pair of Hydrive 112s.

PS - A tip: engage the LF Boost button when using bigger cabs. It's actually more of a low-frequency extension and doesn't result in boominess.

Would a 115 Hartke hydrive be better than 410?

(I'm partial to the Hartke only cuz Larry is a cool guy)... if there is reason to believe that Hartke's not gonna get it done, please let me know your opinions on that too.

And this is why I don't even think about playing an amp other than Genz Benz any more. This and the fact that they sound amazing.

That is very cool, hasbeen!

I like the Hartke Hydrive cabs.

Doesn't Genz have the Uber 115? I bet that would be a pretty incredible match. Much pricier than the Hartke though, I believe.
