Genz are great in that they always have their products ready for launch, but I'd love to know exactly what we have in store for Jan 2012.
Last year we had the Streamliner announced around this time....
I'm on tenter hooks as to whether to get a Shuttle 9.0 in the sale or wait it out for a new version....if its coming!

| | | I'm hoping it is soon. I'm in the market for a modern sounding amp with significant power at 8ohms as a buddy to my Streamliner900 for my soon to be delivered Art of Sound 15/6 (hopefully soon after NAMM).
The new Puma900 is shipping, and is much less expensive than I would have thought. However, I am hoping that Genz announces some sort of Shuttle size new product, and will wait for my purchase until I can check one out at NAMM. The awesome thing about Genz is that the product will definitely be at retailiers close to the announcement date.
The upcoming GK MBFusion800 sounds like it might be cool, but my guess is we are the typical 1 year away from announcement to actual production.
The new Glock lightweight looks cool also, but that will be very pricey, and might not be the punchy tone I'm looking for (based on my previously owned Heartrock).
Lots of interesting stuff coming out, but I'm most excited about the possibility of a new, high powered micro from Genz

Cmon Genz :P

Since Puma went with the ICE power modules, the price has really come down (and the tone has changed a bit... much closer to my F500). The Puma900 does not have a fan, and like the old SWR, uses the chassis as a heat sink, so it is reported to run really hot by design.
Rational or not, that pretty much dropped it from my list (at least until its been out there for 6 months or a year to see how it holds up). The Powersoft era of the Puma's was quite special (super deep, creamy, smooth, crystal clear). That tone profile was great for some, but I ended up prefering the slightly tighter, rougher tone of the F500 myself. Interestingly, the Puma900 might just be that long sought after high wattage F1/F500.
I have my 'tube' thing covered for that big 8ohm cab with the Streamliner. I don't dig the GK stuff much at all (although I could live with the Fusion, but I think the 800 is many months away from being a reality).
So, Genz has my focus if they come out with a 'Shuttle 9' type box that is more to my tonal taste than the current model! We shall see! |

The large size and low power has that one off my list, but I assume it sounds similar to the HD350, which is a cool sounding, uber modern voiced head. Great for slappers and the Gospel guys.
I will be keeping my eye on the Glock lightweight also. If that is discounted to a reasonable (if high price) in the US (list is around $2,000, so I assume a selling price of around $1,600) that might be a pretty good, if not particularly small option for the 'Mr. Money Bags' crowd
I'm going to bug Agedhorse into spilling the beans on the new Genz line-up. |

If not, I promise I will send back info from NAMM when I make my way to the booth on Friday or early Saturday.

You are strictly volume limited within any one booth, in a huge, boomy room, engulfed in a massive amount of ambient noise.
NAMM is the place for checking out basses unplugged, and seeing, lifting, feeling gear and checking out specs and meeting the guys involved in running the compaines.
I'm not even bothering to bring a recorder. I will bring a camera though.
The other frustrating thing is that, unlike the Genz guys, there is lots of stuff shown in booths by companies that will either never see the light of day, or that won't be introduced for a year, etc. So hard to determine what is actually real, and if real, when it will be avialable. |

Within that booth and close to Genz is the percussion booth, so you always have guys playing percussion. Last year it was easy to just set up rhythmic feels. Genz had a number of basses you could check out amps with. You could actually get a pretty good idea how things sounded, which could be why so many guys left NAMM knowing how good the Streamliner sounded with a P bass. |

Edit: I meant 'Andy' above, but I guess it as accurate, since Roger is actually the evil emperor behind the curtain.

I remember back in day Trace Elliot had a 'soundproof booth' with a few amps in there.
Fun time no matter what! It has been exactly 30 years since my last NAMM |

What I'd like to see is something along the lines of the Shuttle 9.0 but with the solid state preamp instead of the tube pre.
(I know I can get that with the Max's but I like the smaller form.)

To the average buyer, tubes = good and solid state = bad. Not that the 6.0 and 9.0 are bad but after having played both, I prefer the pre in my 3.0.
I don't think they'll be releasing a small, high powered head with a ss preamp. If they do, I'll be putting my wallet where my mouth is.
