It's one of the best cabs available. It will expose all the short comings of the amp you are using...

If you're able to build it yourself, it would be less expensive.

New to building my own gear. How do you even begin building a 15/15/66?

1. Join the forum: http://greenboy.us/forum/index.php
2. Download the plans.
3. Buy the bits and pieces.
4. Cut some plywood. (Or buy precut plywood from Speaker Hardware.)
5. Put it together.

Joining the forum isn't required, but lots of help available there.

Simple rule is, vintage cabs don't do real lows. Quite often they don't go very high either. If you get a modern cabs that does both suddenly you might find how little low your amp does and how horrible the highs from it sound. Generally the latter more, old amps tend to do more lows than old cabs could reproduce in my experience. If you are keen on the old style heads, a traditional style but modern turbo charged 2x15 with Kappalite 3015s like the Dually or Barefaced Super 15 might be more the thing, those are what I use for very low endy doom.

And that SWR 810 is no slouch when it comes to 810,s!! I highly recommend the 66 if you want to go loud and drop tune without ever having to worry about over driving on the lows!!!
We did a few a/b tests with some popular 810 cabs, and in our opinion, no contest at all...another great option is the FEARLESS F215...a little smaller than a 1515/66 and around 25-30 lbs lighter. Massive lows and clarity, huge power handling, and even less expensive than a 1515/66.

If the OP is tuning to drop G wouldnt you recommend the fEARful over the fEARless for the super low extended range bass stuff?

Missed the drop G part! Yes, go with a fEARful

Besides, if you truly want a 'more is more' cab, NOTHING tops the 1515/66 IMO
