Ghetto Amps

Salient last night, I saw a band that is soo ghetto and from "da hood"

They are rocking a Ford F150 pickup truck outfitted with bunch of amps and powerful woofers. I heard some people in the crowd old me it is 2000+ Watts RMS for all the speakers on the truck.

The bass and guitarist have headphone amps (not sure if it's the VOX AmPlug), plugged into a stereo joiner 3.5mm into the truck's AUX input jack

The drummer was drumming on the flat bed of the pickup truck, and the drums and cymbals are not mic'ed in anyway.

They were playing everything from country to heavy death metal

The bass from that truck's speaker system is out of control

The frequency is soo low and deep and projected in such a high volume, the concrete and the truck itself is shaking like a surfboard on a large ocean wave.

I wonder how the drummer still can balance on his throne lol

This gig is the definition of ghetto, da hood as Portable Gig lol

I will occasionally drive out to the coast, park at the beach. Plug my bass into a 1/4 mono to 1/8 stereo converter and go into the aux in on my car's deck. That puts me through the cars mids, tweeters and 2 x 12" 1000 watt subs in the back. It's a nice, thick and full sounding bass tone. Granted, the active basses compensate for a lack of preamp

Lol I think more road giggers should try this out

Imagine on stage, there is a car on it and whole band use the car as their monitor and speaker equipment.

Even better, of I see a Lamborghini on stage used as an amp, that would truly be a first.

You mixed a live concert with a exotic car display show lol

That's too cool! I wish I had an old pickup and some leftover subs and car stereo gear.

Yeah, that is the real definition of "Road Show" lol

You perform a go on the truck, unplug and you ate ready to go

No setup time and moving gear time wasted since everything is on the car

Should see more of this.

I'm gonna do this with a panel truck. Just stand everything up in the back and open the door.

Reminds me of that Cheech And Chong movie where they roll up in a van and jam for people.

Never seen the that movie

But I am pretty sure this was not done the first time

I have seen this a few times during my lifetime so far.

Pretty cool, more "on the road" (literally) band should try this out.
