So I'm giving a chance to a store that i have shunned due to poor service in the past, and I'm talking to a guy that was in a band that I own a cd by <great guy, very down to earth> about bass guitars. I then realize this would be a good time to take a look at some new gear as I need a new amp and cabinet. I'm wanting something larg enough that I can play at larger venues, thus making me more appealing to some of the locl bands and not limiting me to coffee shops and the like. No offence, just wanna play bigger or have the ability to play bigger. He's showing me an Ashdown. I'm not a big fan of ashdown. Never been able to find my tone in one, don't know why. They have a limited selection and im bummed out as I'm not seeing anything that blows my skirt up. Then I turn around and see Hartke on the thing I've been leaning on. You could have knocked me over with a feather. There is another store in town that actually carries Hartke, but I refuse to buy from them as the owner is a putz. It's a Hartke HA 3000, and it is sitting on top of a Hartke VX810. I talk to Fish about it and he tells me the price. $500...for both. They are on consignement and in amazing shape. Can't really get the tone I'm looking for, but I take into account, I'm not playing my bass, I'm not familiar with the controls, and I'm standing in a store where I can't blow it out. So I put some money down on it, and rush home to look it up online to see if I have stumbled on something. I look it up, great reviews, Hartke has great customer service even with amps not purchase directly from him, I have been wanting an amp and cab from him anyway, and it is a great price even for used. So here goes, I want you who are rading this to take a gander at the information and see if I'm totally out of line and off base with my assumtion. This is the first time that I have found a "deal" and actually been able to act financially. Thanks guys.
