GK 1000RB questions

Sign in to disble this ad
Hey all!
I recently had a stroke of bad luck, and have little choice but to sell my Gallien Krueger 1000 RB that I bought new in 1998. It has been an amazing workhorse for me and I hate to part with it, but broke a tooth.

My question is does anyone know what kind of price range I should be looking at? I listed it locally with an SKB for $480, but I want to make sure I'm not selling to far from its value. I know I paid close to $1000, but that was 1998 dollars!

Thanks! Keep slappin!

This kind of thread is against forum rules.

Against a bass forum's rules to ask a question about bass amps?... In answer to the question. Try looking for other people selling them second hand. See what they are selling them for.

Against this bass forum's rules for a non-supporting member to ask about the value of his equipment, yes. Both you and he agreed to those rules, too. It's part of the registration process.

I never read any rules when I registered, I was just trying to figure out what to sell my head for. Its been a tough search to find any 1000RB's online used to base my numbers on.

Thanks for the warm welcome.

It's not against the rules to ask questions about bass amps.

It is against the rules to start threads asking the value of amps you're trying to sell. There is a classified section here on TB for selling gear, but you need to donate to the site and become a supporting member in order to utilize it. Posting these types of threads provides a backdoor to sell gear without supporting the site.

No problem. When I registered, there was a thing that told me to read the rules, or a thing that made me check off that I agreed with the rules.....it was years ago, so I'm kind of fuzzy on what it was exactly. Anyway, here's a link to the specific rule we're discussing:

http://www.talkbass.com/forum/showthread.php?t=166101

It's right at the top of this forum, for everybody to see.

As for the 1001RB, first you need to know if you have an RB1001, or an RB1001 II. Then, if you do a search in the 'Amps for sale' forum, you'll see what they've sold for. Or look in the 'completed auctions' on ebay. It's easy, being an amp as common as a RB1001.

A 1000? I forgot those existed. Now I understand your frustration....on the good side, it's rare; on the bad side, they have a reputation (don't know if it's deserved) for being unreliable. Unless you live in a big city, ebay's going to get you a better price than craigslist. Or become a supporting member and sell it here....

In the UK they pretty much do. Granted they get paid from taxes. But that means every working person in the country puts towards your health bill rather than you having to sell a great amp just to get a tooth fixed. ;D... and to an earlier statement - I would support the site if I had the cash spare. To become a "supporting member" though, you have to pay a set amount. That's not supporting, that's paying a fee. I'd happily give £5 everytime I had it spare to be one of these "supporting members". Maybe I could have you all help me make it rich and famous eh? Then I'll give a ton back to this site.
