Anyone ever play throught is combo? I have the GK head and have a chance to get the 810 cab. It's quite a drive to go try it out so I figured I'd ask here for some feedback to see if was worth the effort to go. It's a good price. Thanks in advance! |

I normally run GK Neo 212s, and the 810 just seemed to lack any clarity in comparison. I had to turn it up a lot louder too hear myself...

I've been impressed every time I've had the chance to run mine through one. The GK tends to be very bassy (almost too bassy), in my opinion, and the inherent punchiness of the 810 seems to counteract that a bit. Great rock sound. |

And, IMHO with much better over-all dependability.
I ran a G.K. 800 head into a SVT 810 cab for 20 plus years, absolutely no probs.
Sorry Jimmy... |

Although I think that *some* may overstate reliability differences, I can't agree with the above - sorry, Jimmy...

i talk to a lot of techs on here as well as on the road, and i have yet to meet a tech yet who says tube amps aren't as reliable as solid state amps. not a single one. they will say that tubes aren't as good as they used to be, but that's a whole separate issue.

Not at all - I gigged for atleast 10 straight years as a guitarist thru an old Marshall, without any trouble... I did have periodic maintanence performed, but that wasn't all that big a deal...
By the same token, I personally have never had an SS amp failure, either - but never had to do any significant maintanence on any of them, either...
"they will say that tubes aren't as good as they used to be, but that's a whole separate issue"
Still works out the same, regardless of *why* the amp failed - that's just the way it is... In the 25+ years I've been gigging, I've definitely seen more tube amps go TU than I have SS amps - although not by as huge of a margin as some people would make it out to be...
Just the way I see it, bud...
