Picked up the Gallien-Krueger 1001rb-2 head and Ampeg SVT-410hlf classic cab, both used, today at GC for.. (drumroll).. $900!! Both were in great condition, Ampeg may need reapolstered, meh. but i gotta tell ya the quality of this set up, I won't use any other gear for a long long time. But anywho, just wanted to hear from some other owners input on the GK's pro's and con's and the Ampeg's pro's and con's. I didn't get to take it home today, just put it on layaway, bring it home and will post it in a couple weeks, Thanks playas!! |

Been using GK heads for the past 12 or so years and Man I just love them more and more every year that goes by. They are work horses. You will find if you havent already that the 700 watts that GK rates the 1001rb II at is a very Conservative rating!! It has to be the loudest 700 watts i have ever had the chance to hear or play. She will make most 1K monsters out there stand up and take note!! She is Very Loud,Clean, Punchy and well just about anything you want it to be. Some people say it is to bright...i dont find it that way. Yes it can be depending on my eq...but i can also make her warm and muddy if I so like. every place i have played and everyone that has herd that head loves it....mind you i am putting through a SWR Megoliath 810 which does a pretty good job of putting some punchy sound out there!! I am sure you will be very happy with your head...i have never had troubles with my stuff...it just keeps going and going!! all the Best Enjoy it!! Cheers Mate!!~Elliot

| | | | i'm not a big fan of the GK stuff but people obviously love them. its just not my sound, however, i own the ampeg 410hlf. It is by far my favorite cabinet out of everything i have ever owned or played. The only con i can think of for the cab is that it can be a pain to lug around sometimes. My band rehearsed in an apartment in a college town and when ever i moved back and forth to my place i had to take it up or down 2 narrow flights of stairs. |

It is one hell of a cab!! Tight, Punchy and WOW She goes really low...you dont just hear that low b you FEEL It all The way to the back of the room!! for me i have found that GK heads and SWR Cabs are one of the best combos IMHO!!! But Like i said i have never been a fan of Ampeg Cabs, But i have heard good things about the one you got... Really hope it Works well for you!!

(the elevator was frequently out) |
