Volume around 10:30 (above that the sound starts distorting)
Contour & presence off
EQ flat at noon (maybe a slight boost to low & high mids)
Boost at noon
Horn around 10:00 (biamped)
Woofer as needed for overall volume...usually around 10:30 or so
I run my 1001RB-II through a Neo 212 & Neo 115. Couldn't be happier!

Turn the pad off, if the peak light doesn't light up unless hitting the strings hard you don't need to use it. The "Volume" control is the pre-gain for the tone section preamp and is AFTER the peak light. So in other words the pre-gain ("Volume") has NO affect on the peak light, only the gain going into the tone control section. The "Woofer" is the only master power amp control if you are not using a G-K HMS cab. The "Boost" adds harmonic content and can add warmth and sustain (also affects the overall master volume so the woofer and boost are interactive).
The "Volume" can be used to set full gain into the tone section and the master (Woofer) to set overall volume or just the opposite with the Woofer up high (like the old days of no power amp master volume) and the "Volume" (tone section gain) to set overall loudness or any combination of the two.
If you do use a G-K HMS cab (like the NEO,RBH or SBX series cabs) the "Tweeter" control is the master for the cab horns and is not affected by the "Boost" control.

I'm looking at the block diagram and it looks like gain is post active/passive switch too. |

Start with bass amp and cab. Find your tone first! Then implement your extras as needed or see fit. The 1001 can and will deliver a beautiful, clear, and articulate tone! Just give it time, and good luck! On a side note, if you ever want to introduce that signature go growl, it is much harder to do with a 1001 than a 700 because of the massive Watts and headroom. |

| | | | ok rehearsal was great, the cab delivers... and the settings on the amp helped, too.
But: if i turned up the woofer completely and booster completely off, the amp was a) not all that loud, and b) it would randomly shut down. It seemed to have trouble with that.
I ended up with:
EQ flat, Contour 12, presence 12.
Volume ~10:30, booster 9, woofer ~2
very loud, but with the new cab the pressure was very nice to the ear. It shook the bones, but not the eardrums.

The amp wasn't shutting down, you may have a woofer pot that is a little dodgy. The woofer is the master volume for the power amp. Nothing to worry about though as you found what you needed
