Hey everyone, I have a gk 1001rb-ii running through a gk neo 410 cabinet and I'm not happy with the amount of lows i can get from this setup. I like alot of bass in my sound which I find this setup doesn't give me all that well. Along with alot of low end in my tone I also enjoy a fair amount of mids, which this setup delivers perfectly. So I'm wondering if you guys think whether it's the amp or the cab that can't give me as much low end as I'm looking for.

He had a 700rb-II and GK cabs in the practice spot so I used it for the first month or so, and I could not get the right amount of lows. I think its the GK cabs. I hooked it up to my Ampeg cab and wow, big difference. |

Their heads have tons of lows... I'm using an Ampeg 610HLF and have to dial the bass DOWN or it would kill everyone.

| | | | Thanks everyone for the quick replies. I kinda figured it was the cab. Do you guys have any recommendations of of another manufacturers cab that can push as much lows I want? Somebody already mentioned fEARful and I will definitely take a look at them. I play in a hard rock band with two guitarists if that helps at all. Thanks

I played a 700RB-II through a fEARful 12/6 and 12/sub for a while and it sounded huge. I use seperateds so I can use only my 12/6 for small gigs/practice. If you build it it's a lot cheaper, but there are authorized builders if needed. Look up speakerhardware.com. Lelands a great guy who will set you up.

I use a 4x10" and 1x18" stack. The 4x10" itself has amazing low end. You will probably get a million replies on this subject and my only suggestion is to take your GK head to stores and try out different cabinets and see which one suits your needs! -Luke

| | | | I've been looking at fEARfuls but they're too expensive for me. Do you guys have any other suggestions for mass produced cabs that really pump out the low end. I'm only 17 I can't afford a fEARful. Also I'm looking for a cab that's not massive in size. Thanks

You have 2 WONDERFUL pieces of equipment that together are CRAP if you like low end.
So which one do you want to keep the least? Nows your chance
I do agree that its MOSTLY the cab. I have a GK NEO 115 but I have a Streamliner for an amp, thats huge tube warmth that brings it with the GK NEO.
The new Ampeg NEOs sound bigger in the low end. I personally love Epifanis which are the COMPLETE opposite of GK NEOs, huge low end, subtle mids.
I have both cabs. You can have more than 1 bass right? Grab another warmer cab.

I have extensive experience with the 1001RB2 and it's got lows galore.
How is the volume with your current setup? If it's physically loud enough, you might consider a couple of 8 ohm Acme Flatwounds or Fullranges. Two of those 112's will easily replace your 410 in volume, and the lows will absolutely kill.
Also, tonally the GKs and Acmes go really well together. That's my main setup, and same with several other TBers. |

| | | | The volume on my current setup is more than enough.... I would love to pair a gk neo 115 with my 410 but my 410 is 4 ohms, so I need to get a new cab. I was thinking about getting a cab with 15s in it too.

A cab that will get hellish with lows (way too much for my tastes).
