Question GK 1001RB-II vs SWR workingPro 700

Sign in to disble this ad
I need a new bass amp and I just cant find the better choice.

I'm looking for an Amp with Clean and punchy sound.

Both shows 700W as output power. Can I really get the same headroom?

Any helpful thoughts, comments, or suggestions will be greatly appreciated!!!

PS: IŽll be in US next July and I dont have the amps here in my town to test them, so I really need help with this.

No experience with the SWR but the GK 1001RBII is an amazing amp, gk also rates their amps modestly. Next to another 700 watt amp the gk should have more headroom, but i can't comment on the workingpro SWR series volume. As far as sound the gk gets a very nice punchy sound. The clean on them is more of a taste thing, I love it some do not.

Well Lets See if i can help... First Off The 1001 rb II is a Pro Series Amp and the SWR working pro is just that a Backline amp... Not saying it is not good But it is Not Great ether!! My Vote is for and will always be for the GK 1001rb II. Being an owner of one my self i can say that it is one Awesome head. Has as much head room and volume as most 1000 watt monsters!! It is loud and Hell and can do just about anything you want tone wise. The SWR will not have the head room of the GK...i mean if the swr 750X Pro Head cant match the GK for head room and volume i really dont see how the working pro will do any better and for the price you cant beat the GK!! Been using GK Head now for about 10 years and can say i have never had any trouble with them. They are Solid and built to last and Sound GREAT!!! Best Of Luck In your Search of a new Head!! Cheers Mate!!!~Elliot

Both the previous posters are GK fans, but I'm an SWR man.

you've got to remember SWR is a bit like marmite, you either love it or hate it...

I love it.

Never played a GK, I'm sure there very good, but I got Working Man Combo, Head and Working Pro head and Cabs, and I love them.

Definately clean and punchy, and to be honest, where are you playing if you need 700W backline? I also think anymore than 300w and you're into PA territory...

I would say try and play an SWR, asking opinions about them is very polarized one way or another...
