GK 210 Neo or Avatar B210 Neo, Opinions?

Sign in to disble this ad
I Need a new cabinet and I've narrowed it down to The GK 210 Neo, or the Avatar B210 Neo. I would have added the Carvin BRX 10.2 Neo but I need a 8 ohm cab. Down the road I will put a 1x15 under this. I am leaning to the Avatar, but I've read some things about the crossovers and horns. I've had a chance to try GK's and an Avatar 410 (not a Neo). So I'm asking for opinions.

I like to play everything from blues to metal so I want something that sounds good all the way around, If that's possible in this price range, about $500.
I,m also looking at an older Eden 210xlt & 115xlt used here on TB for $500 plus shipping.

Equip: Ibanez Sr800, Hartke ha3500 head.

Don't be shy, tell me what you think.

I am an Eden speaker guy through and through. I have been using that exact setup for years and have NEVER been sorry...with one exception and that is the weight. Of the other 2, I would go with the Avatar, the GK would never even make it on to my list not even in the same league sound wise. Now we wait for the people to tell you not to mix cabinets...

There are quite a few people on TB that like the Avatar B210, I'm not one of them. I thought this was the worst sounding 210 cab that I've ever played through, just my opinion of course. The mids were harsh and honky sounding. Although it did sound quite a bit better when I combined it with the B212. The cab seemed well built and the price was good though. I used the Carvin BRX 10.2 to replace the B210 and was much happier...but it would be nice if Carvin had an 8 ohm version.

I can't really recommend any 210s at this time because I haven't found one that I really like.

I'm not sure about the GK 210 Neo, but I can tell you that I'm using the same Hartke HA3500 with the GK 212 Neo on top of a GK115 and the sounds great. They both sound ok alone with the 212 killing the 115, but pair them together and they're awesome!
