Question GK 212 MBE Paired w/ Hartke LH500?

Sign in to disble this ad
Would this GK be a good cabinet choice to go with my LH500? It appears to fit my needs in terms of power, size and especially weight, it's just that in my research I keep seeing that the GK 212 MBE was designed as an extension cab for their combo amps or should only be paired with certain GK amps. While this makes no sense to me, perhaps there's something I'm missing and want to get some clarification. Need to replace an old hartke 2x10 that just blew up.. thanks!

It might very well be an excellent choice. No rules about using with a GK amp....but we don't know when they'll be released so it's all speculation at this point.

thanks, and oops didn't realize they weren't out yet! Looks like they are about a month away. MF says available July 30th..

I've been playing bass for over 20 years and I'm still an idiot about watts and ohms.

The LH 500 is 500W 8ohm, and the cab is a 600W 8ohm. So that's a good match? I won't be underpowering the cab or anything?

No such thing as underpowering. You'll be fine.

Meaning you would need two 8ohm cabs to get the full 500 watts out of your LH.

Thanks! and it looks like the 212 MBE will be available in 4ohm so it sounds like a great fit.

Your help reminded me that maybe I should RTFM on the LH500, so I did, and it was like you said. I was confused because the outputs are labeled 8ohm.

I wouldn't hold my breath on that one. GK has had to push back new products because they're selling SO many of the products that are out now.
