The man says 400 watts / 29 lbs.
I'm going with the man on this one.
Could this be the cabinet that parks my TL606 once and for all?
Even if these suck a little, it's quite the deal.
Compared to the Golights, these things are a steal; wonder how the marketing guys at SWR / Fender are feeling about moving some units right now! |

Does this mean you'll not get the full 200 watts @ 4 ohms out of the MB 200 with just one MBE115?
I've got both on order at GC right now, so I'm very curious.

I have a 210MBE on order from RMC (hoping to have it by the 4th of July?), and a Seymour Duncan Bass 400 amp (NOT the bi-amped version). Are they compatible? Tweeter on the MBE can be switched on or off, correct? I'm getting concerned... But the MB-500 at less than 4 lbs is sounding better all the time, 'weigh' lighter than my Bass 400... |

If you had an MB-500 + MBE210 you'd end up paying a lot more for less convenience. Just sayin'...

| | | | Just registered to put in a quick review on this thread as its the top result (for me, at least) when searching for the 212mbe, and Ive seen barely any actual user reviews anywhere for it (theres a couple of threads here on TB but hey, another one can't hurt).
Received my 8ohm cab last week, had a gig to test it out with over the weekend, and was generally very happy - both with the size/weight combo, and the sound.
I'm used to 10" speakers (previously a trace 4x10 combo and an eden d210 - both up for sale now, i guess!), and whilst there is a noticeable drop in the high end in comparison, it also feels like a much smoother tone - feels more like an actual 'bass amp', if that makes sense. This is through the Orange terror bass 500w and a fender P, btw.
I saw someone comment about the handle strap being a bit awkward - this is true; whilst the cab is very light compared to others, its still quite tall, so can be a bit difficult to carry with one arm. I imagine a second strap on the side would make it more manageable, but then you'd be flipping it over all the time to lift, so who knows.
The covering material also feels a bit cheap on first glance, making me worry a bit for its longevity, and as there appears to be no covers available for it here in the uk, could be an issue long-term.
BUT otherwise, as I said, a fantastic value cab. didnt have a chance to compare to the neo 212, but FWIW, my opinion there's still a great arse-end to the sound on this model. Felt like i took a risk buying blind (or deaf), but overall i'm very pleased. |

From what I read the GK guy himself says you can't mix these cabs with other brands? I ask because I want to buy a bass terror like the guy above me and I'll be using a P bass as well.
is one 4 ohm 2x12 loud or since I can get the money should I spring for two 8 ohms as planned? |

Generally speaking, amp companies design their amps to compliment their cabs, but essentially every amp and cab on the market today will have speakon and/or 1/4" ins and outs, so as long as your connections work and the impedances line up, you'll be good to go. |

I play the standard bar, festival type stuff and currently with an old school soul/RnB/funk type outfit. My basses are Fender and EBMM and I top the cab with a Carvin BX500.
Any player who's loaded in and out night after night would appreciate this cab. If you don't do that, then you can't appreciate the value. I replaced my 150lb rig with this cab and the Carvin. If I'm playing in my bedroom and trying to capture every little nuance of my tone then maybe I'd be more critical. But I don't do that. I go to work on weekends to play live in front of real people with a real band. And what do I dread? Load in. Hate it. I can't stand having to haul gear, its the worse part of playing live. And maybe I'm not as critical of my gear as other players (other than my basses) because I am more concerned about my actual playing, but this rig has served me very well. I always have PA support so I have never had to push this head/cab combo to the "max" but it always powers up and gives a great mid forward punch that is easy to hear on stage. Enough thump to keep me smiling. Great stuff, couldn't ask for more. Especially for the price. BX500 in a laptop bag over my shoulder and the GK 212MBE in one hand, bass in the other. One trip and I'm done.
My complaint to GK? Put the handle on the side!!
Anyone see the GK 212MBE-II yet? Its on sweetwater |

What kind of power are you guys getting out of these? Any issues when using 500+ watt amps turned up and pedals? | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
