I've been attracted to these for quite some time. I went out of my way to a GC that said they had one in stock to try it out. I first played through the GK 410NEO, because it was already set up with a 700rb head, sounded good. I then set up the 410MBE, and I found the tone to be better than the NEO (I'm not a sound guy so I was stay away from terms like mid-focused, but I personally liked it better), but when I put the volume up, it farted out real quick. I looked and this cab only had a 400 watt power handling at 8ohms. I did some TB research and found that this is an older model, 400 watts with ceramic speakers.
QUESTION 1-As for the new MBE (800 watts handling, neo speakers), has anyone had a farting out problem at conservative levels?
I really want to pull the plug on one of these, but I'm concerned about it farting out way too early for me. I know all cabs have their limits, but I WAS NOT pushing this cab at all.
I've read gmarcus' thread on stuffing the cab. I'm going to give this a whirl, worst case scenario, I pull the stuffing out and let my cat play with it.
QUESTION 2- I know people on this forum have had concerns with the bracing in this cab, and since I always love an excuse to pull out the wood working tools, I might add a few. I read this
thread. Will this same basic idea work with the MBE cab. Adding 1" dowels 7 to 8 inches apart, vertically and horizontally? Any precautions?
No need to mention the warranty, I'm well aware I will void it. I know people who mod $60,000 cars, $450 isn't much to play with.
