GK-500 rackspace?

Sign in to disble this ad
I've tried searching, but I can't find anything. Is the GK MB-500 a half rackspace? Or is the MB-200?

Thanks in advance.

I wouldn't say its officially anything standard...except 1U tall. The 500 is wider than a half rackspace. The MB-200 is less than a half rackspace wide. They only sell rack ears for the 500 at this point. I think you could probably rack both on one shelf though. I'll go home and meaures my amps tonight to verify...

here is what I am trying to do. I have a Rickenbacker 4001 that I want to run stereo. I have a GK Fusion 550 right now that I connect to a 410 and a 212 cab. I have exactly 1/2 a rack space in my rack. If I threw the MB-200 in there I would use it for the highs, and I would have an overdrive pedal hooked up to it and run that head to one cab, then have the lows come through clean through the other cab. So basically it's just a stereo rig in one rack.

I think that can happen if you figure out how you want to mount it. Is there a shelf to velcro to? You will have to go through the instrument input if you want to use the onboard EQ, and if set to POST on the DI, can control the volume of the DI with the main volume knob.

The half space is on top of the fusion 550, so I could just velcro it to that amp head. I'd just have the high output go to the MB-200 and the low go to the fusion and have two separate volumes for each channel. Then control the DI using the volume on the amp's as well.

A half space seems wide enough. It's about 1" less wide than half a rack. The fan is on the end of the left side and there are vent holes on the right side.
