GK 700RB-II + Ampeg Heritage 410 HLF ??

How would these two pair up?
Since Ampeg's 410 is bass heavy, and GK tone is rather clean, perhaps things would even out to get a well rounded tone?

BTW, I'm currently using that head with a 2004 SVT 810E that is supposed to be dark sounding, but it sounds great with my amp EQ'd flat. At times I even had to add some bass (depending on the venue), or cut it a bit. So if I love a darker sounding Ampeg, maybe I should love the newer ones even better?

I have an opportunity to change my 810 for a brand new heritage 410 HLF but I'm just not sure I could part with all that ear-level powerhouse and great punchy mid-rich sound. Not to mention, I'm not a fan of tweeters. How would the tweeters behave with a GK amp? I wouldn't be able to bi-amp, but I could set the tweeter volume on the cab, yea?

I can't find much info on the Heritage 410 anywhere, nor how it sounds or compares to the SVT series.
So cmon TBers, dammit I dunno whether to keep my beloved (but roadworn and "dark age") cab or get the 410.

How would those 2 compare in terms of clarity, growl and warmth?

I have the 700RB-II and it's a great amp. Never played that cab but I haven't heard anyone say this head sounds bad with any cab. Anyway you could play it to hear for yourself. I'm betting it would sound great. That's one heavey cab I've heard though.

You will find that the 4X10 is going to go a little lower than the 8X10.....perhaps that is your cup O tea?

I play through a Heritage 8X10, but the similarities (pretty much) end there. The 4X10 is the 4X10 and the 8X10 is the 8X10 - whether the Heritage line or not, the differences are the same....

The other thing that I could NOT come to terms with (in the 4X10) was that it always seemed like a BEAR to move around due to it's smaller size....usually got a backache just bent over moving it....and, the weight isn't that much lighter than the 8X10...

I hope that this helps a little!

Good luck in your decision!

It will sound very good. My 700rbII sounds good on any cab I've used it on. I used it with an ampeg 410 a couple years back at an outdoor gig with about 5000 people there. A Pretty Famous Session Bassist who played with the Washed Up But Awesome Band after me said "your musicman and gk sounds real good, nice show". So so will yours.
