GK 700rb-II & Avatar B212 Bliss (NAD!)

Sign in to disble this ad
I just got myself a GK 700rb-II matched with my Avatar B212 and man does that thing rip!

It's got all the grit and punch I could ask for.

I used to have the 100rb-II, but like other people I felt it had too much power.

The 700rb 'rides the rails' right where it needs to be. Damn!

I previously had a Little Mark III w/ a VT Bass... but now I have no need for hte VT bass with the GK... (that means look for in the classifieds soon! ;-) )

Anyone else run this pair?

Just wanted to tell everyone

I went with the Neo 212-II 8 ohm.

Very happy with the sound both magnitude and qualities...

Add in the Lakland and Warwick and I got a nice setup.

Have you run the VT Bass through the GK? You can get some sick, sick tones from that combination. I have a 1001RB that always gives me more than I need in the right ways. It'll really reproduce the deep bass that the VT can ask of it if you tweak it to the right SVT on fire and chainsaw 810 tones.

funny, just back from a session from which I'm basking in the afterglow of a 700rbii and an Aguilar GS212, and a VT bass.

I will be trying out the VT at my next practice ( I LOVED it with the LMIII ), but the 'boost' control on the GK is what I think i've always been after. The harmonic distortion that it adds just makes my stuff rip.

HOWEVER, I recorded my bass direct w/ the VT Bass and it sound sick... maybe I SHOULD keep it. Hah...

I suppose I'll try it out next practice...

I also have the opportunity to trade my Avatar for a Ampeg PR410HLF but I don't know if I really want too! The sound of the Avatar + the GK was just sick.

I used to use the 700RB-II with two avatar SB112s. Almost the same thing as you. It was a great rig. I moved to something else just because I was curious, and for a little more flexibility. I miss it sometimes.

Got the 800RB powering the Avatar cab. I think the 700 would give me more of the headroom I need, but the tone is amzingly beautiful.
Avatar + GK = happy!

The PR410HLF is twice as heavy. It's also probably less efficient (rated at 96db @ 1w/1m) so the GK would be working harder to get the same volume. I'm not sure of the Avatar specs but I'd keep it.

That's what I was thinking. The Ampeg has more surface area, but if its less efficient, then whats the point?

Also, I go for a more low-mid/mid heavy sound and tame the lows, which would make having the Ampeg pointless...

If only my Avatar was 8ohm and not 4! I could stack two 212's and destroy my house!

I have the Peavey Tour 700, and an 8 ohm Avatar 212 cab. The head is a perfect match for this cab, and I couldn't be happier with the setup.

Just picked up a 700RB-II on tuesday. It will be tested with an SWR 1x15 Son Of Bertha cab and a GK RBH 2x10 tomorrow night. I'll be trying my VTBass along with it. I'm giggling like a little school girl in anticipation.

Sensitivity of the cab also takes into account driver area. Kind of makes the Avatar seem like the better choice, eh?

I have my 700RB-II paired with an Avatar 210. Doesn't quite get as loud, deep, and wall of bass that I would like, but it definitely holds its own. I find that even with the boost all the way up I still have to kick on my Overdrive pedal to get the grit I want though.

Same set-up here, but sometimes I add a Avatar 210 with it-really kicks.

Get a 212 or a 410 :-P

I tried to buy into the Markbass + Avatar stuff that people always praise... but it just lacks the meat that the GK and Avatar provide

I've been looking at doing just that. My 210 is a 4 ohm, and its 500 watt rating gets pushed quite a bit, especially when I'm running octave down+fuzz and such. When you can see the cone hitting the extent of its range its not a good thing I don't think. Kinda farts out too. Lol either that or I need to turn it down a bit.

But pairing it with a 212, 412, 215, 410, or maybe even an 810 is my next step.

Never tried the markbass stuff. Sounds way to polished and clean for my tastes.

I'd definitely love to pair it with a 412.

Dont from Low Down Sound quoted a 412 for me for $600. SOOOO tempting!
