Sign in to disble this ad
Anyone have experience with the two?

I'm currently going from a Markbass LMIII w/ Avatar B212 to a GK 700rb-II w/ Avatar B212 but have the opportunity to snatch up an Ampeg PR410HLF and am quite curious to see how they sound...

opinions?

I haven't played through the PR410HLF, but the most amazing, solid, deep, clear low E I've ever heard came out of one... I'm not sure what kind of amp the guy was driving it with, but its airquake capability was beyond impressive.

You do know what it weighs, don't you? Just about as much as me carrying my heavier bass There's a price for that low end.

I'm well aware of the weight and can handle it. I've just heard that the 410 needs A LOT of power to open up... I was wondering if the GK was up to snuff

Yes! I actually had that exact setup for while and they pair together well. The 700 has plenty of power to open up the Ampeg, no worries there. Ended up selling the GK and getting an Ashdown EVOII 500, which sounds phenomenal. I must admit everything I've put through the Ampeg 410HLF cab sounds great, if you are looking for a solid 4x10 cab you can't go wrong there.

I own that very setup and gig with it occasionally. I'm scaling down for transportation sake because the cabinet's not doing my back any favors, but it sounds great. I have a recording of a live show I did with it, if I wasn't at work right now I could throw up a couple of mp3's as a sample of how it sounded.
