GK 700RB Stack?

Sign in to disble this ad
Hello, I have an opportunity to trade for a GK 700RB 210 combo with an RBH 1x15 extension cabinet and was wondering if I could get some insight into this set-up. I've long heard good and bad reviews on GK products, but love their tone. I would appreciate any feedback from other users or former users of this rig. Thanks.

I've used GK for 26 years, 1st was a 115BC combo, lasted 16 years, plain just wore it out, 1000's of gigs, never a hickup. Now I own a 400RBIII, got that in 2000, and my new
(old) 1995 MBE112 and a 112MBX cab. My tone monster!!
I love GK would never, ever think of owning anything else

It all depends on your ears. I had that combo and the RBH 1x15 for years. Sometimes I used the 2x10 only, sometimes just the 15, and sometimes both. Its super heavy. I never could dial in a sound I liked really well. I just dont like GK cabs I guess. It took me years to realize that I like tweeterless cabs too.

I can tell you from first hand, first owner experience.
I got my 700RB/115RBH Combo back in 1999.
Well it is still going along like normal, and that fifteen inch driver is the best.
About 70 pounds or so I think, pretty solid.
This is the original 700RB, not the newer 700RB-II.
I got it paired up with a Hartke 2X10XL and it works out well.
I just saw an 115RBH extension cab for sale lately and I wanted to get it bad.

I just recently got my hands on the 700RB/112 combo(original, not MKII). Completely in love with it. The 12" driver handles just fine at reasonable volume for rehearsal. Adding my Avatar 2x10 is just awesome! I am looking to get the RBH 115 cab for the complete GK setup. I don't regret buying this amp. If GK tone is your thing, you won't regret getting yours either. As far as reliability issues, you'll read the same good vs. bad with pretty much any brand. GK amps have a good reputation for making a solid, reliable amplifier that will provide years of service, and always sound great. There's my $0.02, hope this helps. Cheers!

You may consider getting the NEO112 cab. It will compliment the 12 you already have. And it is so much lighter!
I tried the NEO 112 with my 700RB/115RBH combo and I did not really like it, not for the price. My Hartke 210XL does a better job and costs $150 less. I feel the 12 and 15 inch drivers did not do it for me. The original 700RB is only about 380 Watts, so the 210XL handles half of it's power alright.
I would rather have two 115RBH cabs. Or two 12" cabs.
