GK 700RBII....need cab recommendations...

Sign in to disble this ad
I picked up a GK 700RBII today from a fellow TB'r. I'm going to need to get a cab to go with it. I played around with the same amp @ GC and they had it hooked to a GK 410 neo which I really did like, but I wasn't able to hook it up to different size or manufacturers cabs to test drive anything else.

Right now portability isn't that big a deal since I'll use it mostly at home, but I know I don't want a 810 lol. For a bass, I'll mainly use a U.S. Peavey Cirrus. I need to cover Country and Classic rock to hard rock if possible.

What say you helpful people

G-K NEO 212 would be my choice.

got my 700rb-2 running through an ampeg 410 classic heavy as crap but its got a roll bar and wheels and my friend that thing brings sounds to life like you've never heard before The GK cabs are very portable but u can miss some of the punch you get with ampeg either one is really a good choice but i prefer ampeg "in this scenario"

Either the GK neo 212 or the 112 ...... or both.

Portable, versatile, and sound great. Plus, you'll be able to use the HMS.

GK + Ampeg here too. I run mine (700 RB II) through 810 Ampeg.
Get a 410 Ampeg if you don't need an 810.
Awesome combo.

My 700rb-II absolutely slays for country, blues, and classic rock thru a good 215 - and can cover anything else that way, too... In the OP's situation, I'd either go that route, or buy a pair of 115s...

Cabs that my 700rb-II has sounded great thru:

PH610, 810, and 215
Goliath, Goliath Sr, Megoliath
SVT-410HLF, 810e
Eden D410XLT

I know those are all pretty good sized cabs, but just thought I'd put it out there - it's done very well thru any 215, actually... Ironically enough, I didn't care for it thru any G-K cabs, except the 410RBH - and although I love SWR cabs, I've never cared much for their amps - go figure...

IME, G-K heads do really well thru cabs by Mesa, Ampeg, Eden, and SWR - as a general rule of thumb...

I've been using mine with a GB Neox 212T in a Blues band and it's pretty good. Also tried it with my LDS 212/tweeter cab, with 3012HO's and an XD 125 horn, with mixed results. If you can find a Neox 212 used, it would be a safe bet, imho.

I have been using mine for years with a GK 410rbx and 115rbx. Great tone and it rumbles. No tweeters but who needs 'em ;-)

I've run mine through a bunch of cabs, and now use two G-K Neo112's. They're a wonderful match. It also sounded great through my old SWR Goliath III 4x10. The other night, I played a 400RB-IV through a compact Bag End 1x15, and loved the thick, totally badass tone that turned my Jazz into a thump monster. A couple of those would be sweet with the 700RB-II, maybe one with the coaxial tweeter, and one without.
