GK Amp making lots of crackling noises

Sign in to disble this ad
I have a new setup that is now on the fritz. It's a GK 700RBII head with the GK Neo 212 cabinet. I've owned it for just a few months. Now I am getting tons of crackling noises and lousy signals. I thought it was the guitar input cable, so I changed that. No difference. Then I turned the bass amp volume down, the amp head volume down to 0, and the cabinet is still making lots of crackling noises, and I can see the speakers vibrating. What is going on? I didn't buy the Pro Coverage through Guitar Center, so now I have to go through GK's warranty or an independent service shop. And I have a gig in 10 days Any thoughts?

the problem is the internal crossover, the conection between the woofer and the tweeter could be wrong, maybe one or two wires damaged, although it is easy check and repair i recommend that you go to GK´s warranty because the crossover can be damaged(and it is not easy to find/repair) i hope that the problem is easy

I don't know much about amps. Does it sound like a problem with the cabinet, not the head? Or could it be either?

Thanks

Sounds more like a problem in the amp head, best get it checked out. http://www.gallien.com/support_service.html to find a service center in your area or email jason@gallien.com If you are using a non G-K speakon cable (the G-K cable should have come with the cab) you could have a problem with the speaker cable tying the woofer and tweeter amps together (which is bad news).
