gk backline 600 head help

Sign in to disble this ad
ok, I understand there are way better gk amp heads and cabs, but I just bought a gk blx 4x10 400wt 8 ohm cab. Some helpful TB members gave me some ideas and I think Ill go with the backline 600 head. [since thats pretty much the amp made to be paired with the cab] This is where I was hoping you all could help. I have read reviews of it being great, reliable, and having great tone for a head in its price range. THEN Ive also heard its easily overheated, fragile, and can sometimes not even turn on :/ I really would like it because it will put me at 300w through my gk cab....I dont know what to do, could any of you all that may be owners of the gk backline 600 or know about them help me?

Thank you all so much, Jacob

you'll be satisfied. go with the backline 600. I'm about to upgrade from mine, but they are great little heads. very light weight and reliable when taken care of. be careful with running it for a few hours at a time though as it does heat up pretty nice. I remember playing a 5 hour show and by the last 2 songs it was cutting out. but again, its a very good buy for the money

I don't have any experience with the Backline 600, so I can't comment on that. However, I just picked up a 1001RB-II for $300, so shop around a little - you may find one for cheap.

The only time mine ever overheated was when I accidentally had a notebook covering the fan cutout on top haha. It does get really warm though. However, I love the tone I get through it, and especially the price. Definitely can't go wrong with one.

I've been using one steadily for a few years and it has never gotten hot on me, just don't block the vent on top.
