GK Bacline 600 Direct Out

Sign in to disble this ad
I have a question regarding the direct out vs the send out. I am trying to run a signal to my PC soundcard for recording/online jam session. I find that when I use the send out (FX loop) I get a stronger signal than when I use a XLR cable from the direct out. The direct out has a weaker signal. Can anyone explain this to me and which is the preferred way to send to a recording setup?

thanks!

The DI is a low level balanced output for mic ready channel strips on mixing consoles. The "Effects send" is a high level unbalanced output for rack mount effects (called line level). Which one to use for recording???? The one you like best.

thanks alot b-string. im going through the DI with a higher volume to compensate. If I use send I loose my boost. But DI is quite a bit lower output.I guess I was wondering if DI is often use with another source of amplification at the reciving end, like a PA or such.

Yes that is exactly it! The send can also (since it is high level) go to the effects return of a second amp (called slaving) and have the first amps tone controls, input volume control both amps.
