GK BLX 210+115 from Ampeg B2R: good Idea or not?

Alright. Time for a totally n00b question.

I have 2 GK cabs both rated at 200w @ 8 ohms. I'm looking at getting a used Ampeg B2R head with parallel speaker outs. Now, from my understading 2 8 ohm cabs in parallel will have a total of 4 ohm impeadence. Right? Right.

BUT the head is rated for 200w at 8 ohms and 350w at 4 ohms.

So will I not blow the speakers 'cause the wattage is now too high? OR does the wattage compound because I now have 2 200w cabs.

you'll not blow the speakers and is a good head, is not a tube ampeg but is warmer than gk, some people bash this head as it not a tube ampeg and not sound like one but it good ss sounding head I had( sold, as I have a svt-and a 4 pro) one and I like the sound, for a ss head has a pretty nice sound, and in 4 ohms it makes a good volume, for the used price you can't go wrong, bought mine here in the tb for 250 a steal

Thanks bro. I'm eyeballing one at a pawnshop for $300. I currently own an Acoustic B200H and realized that I'm totaly getting hozed on wattage (200w into 2 ohms, what) so thats like 100w into 8 ohms.

I think I'll grab it up.

Your fine..............

The 350 watts @ 4 ohms gets split between the 2 cabs.

Each cab will be recieving a potential of 175 watts each.

+1 it's all good, but you should always be careful when pushing the volume, or the low eq on ANY amp, connected to ANY speakers. If it sounds like it's straining, it is. Turn something down.

Sweet. So whats the word on the B2-R? I've heard that it's quiet, of all things.

It's a 350 watt Ampeg. How quiet could it possibly be? How would it fare toe-to-toe with say, the GK Backline 600. 'Cause I've heard that its loud.

Comments? Insight? Personal insults?

Not worth $300, IMO - maybe $200, tops... For $300, you can do much better, IMO...
