Hi guys, I'm hoping you have a clue because I don't.
A few years ago I bought a GK 700rb head with a 4X10 cab from GAK. The sales guy said I had 2 options as the GK people their end supply the 4x10's with two wiring options:
1) Wired for higher output from the 1 cab but incompatible if you later decided to stack it with another 4x10/1x15 etc
2) Wired with a slightly lower output and thus compatible for stacking with others if you later wished.
Same price for either cab.
I chose option one as at the time I figured the size of venue I'd be playing wouldn't warrant a stack, plus I'd D.I. through the house system anyway.
Now I'm not so sure if I made the right choice as I'll have to sell the cab and get 2 whole new ones.
Is what I've described correct? Has anyone else encountered these options?
Thanks guys.

Your head puts out full power at 4ohms meaning that you can run it at full power with one 4ohm cab or two 8 ohm cabs... which equals 4 ohms. So yes, he was right. Your head won't operate properly at 2ohms which is what two 4ohm cabs equal.

| | | | Ofcrouse, there is always that option; and speaking in more acoustic language is:
- your option (that you took) is 4 ohm cabinet - the cabinet speakers tun on 4 ohms, so they are louder and your amp is pushing more power on 4 ohm. And it is good choice, if you want to stay at just one cab.
- Second one is: cabinet at 8 ohms - less power and your amp is pushing less power at 8 ohms; but if you buy one more cab, the same 8 ohm - they together make 4 ohm (8 ohm + 8 ohm cab = 4 ohm cab) - your amp is set then like in the first choice, but with two cabinets.
I have also 700 rb head; and I am runing at 8 ohms, but it works much better at 4 ohms, cause have more power; so I will try to get one more cab, but I will also have to carry around two cabs then, not so nice.
And tell me (you have rb I or rb II) and what kind of cab of KG did you take; what model? |

| | | I also like my rb 700; but don't have 4x10 RBH, yeeet , that is a m**** Fu**** cabinet; I think if you have that one, better 4 ohms, cause that is all you need- have enough low end just by its self; with lower price and quality cab it is good to have two.
Tell me, do you use DI on rb 700 head? Is it working for you, on stages? or studio?
But mostyl I am interesting for live sound? Or do you use external DI, if you, which one, and what is the difference? |

Cheers, yeah it seems I may as well stick with what I've got.
