GK Fusion 550 or 1001rb

Sign in to disble this ad
SO I already have the Fusion 550. I use it with x2 Neo 212's. While i love the tone, for some of my gigs, i feel like theres almost too much low end. I love the tubey sound, but in some instances i feel like it overpowers what im doing. I also push the 550 pretty hard. I know its loud, and maybe im just not dialing things in properly, but it just seems to be too deep at times. You guys think the 1001rb will be a better fit tonewise? Im playing pretty big venues usually. Any help would be appreciated, thought id see what you guys think.

I currently own a 550, and previously owned a 1001-II. I find the tones similar, but the 550 seems to be more thick and fuller sounded. It tends to really ruble on those low notes and take over everything(in a good way). The 1001 seemed to be more "nice" sounding, as I would put it.

The 1001 is louder as well, so it can handle the huge venues.

i have no experience with the 1001, but i do own a 550 and i've found it's almost too deep as well. i had to dial back the lows and low mids considerably before i found a sound i liked...

not anyone new, but before i owned my fusion, i had an ampeg svt450h and that had a nice bright sound to it. with the fusion, it's a smoother tone, a little less hissy, but i have to do some serios eq-ing to get the tone a little more in the grindy, punchy, bright range over the big, warm, boomy range... i guess that's all i really have to say about it. i love my gk. now i'd just love to get ahold of some of those neo 2x12's... i've played the 1x12 and it sounds great. i just want a solid, "big rig" to be able to play that's hopefully voiced a little higher than my ampeg 4x10 and 1x15 i play out of now...
