GK goldline speaker replacement

Sign in to disble this ad
My buddy has a GK goldline 8*10 with the aluminum speakers. One blew out and needs to be replaced. Has anyone replaced an aluminum speaker with a paper cone? I'm wondering if it sounds weird with one oddball. I've read that these speakers are generally of low quality and tend to blow out easily, that's why we are leaning towards replacing it with another speaker. If anyone has any speaker suggestions or knowledge on the subject please reply!!!

I'd contact GK for a new driver.

Man I can say from experience that the goldline speakers are absolute garbage. They fart out way too easy, and they are disposable as bic lighters. Went through 3 before I finally decided to sell the cab altogether and be rid of it. If you replace the speaker with a paper one it may sound different to a slight degree, but with the other 7 still hitting, the difference would probably not be that noticeable. Now, as far as phasing goes, that's a different story.
