GK GOLDLINE TECH HELP!!!!

Sign in to disble this ad
okay so i have this set up:
Goldline 500
GLX210
GLx115

sitting just like that in fact hah!

but my problems lies with small gigs and what to take for
minimizing things. im not looking to buy anything if i can
get away with it. i do know that there is a direct to go into
a PA, my bands PA is powered (1000 watts) and we have
a 15" powered sub as well. so my questions are as follows
should i use the 2x10's and direct into the pa so i use the
sub? is the DI passive or active, (im unsure of what that
means in all actuality) and does it draw from the 500 Head?
and finally if it doesnt draw from the head, should i be
concerned for my 2x10 speakers? whats the best way to
go about this?

i was originally a guitarist whos bass experience, prior to
joining a cover band, went as far as owning one and letting
it sit in its case until i wanted to demo a new song. Also, i
made a purchase for my touring band and owned the GK
goldline 500 when we split up. i tried out both cabs together
figuring i didnt want a heavy 410/12 and wanted a combo
slow deep bass and high punchy sound so the 210 & 115
seemed like the best selections. when you're playing in a
bar who's width is less than 15 feet though, you need to
economize. i guess im just trying to do it as well as i can
without taking too much away from my sound. okay, thats
about enough of the back story and ranting.

thank you in advanced for your responses and i hope to
hear from you soon, oh say... before wednesday? thats my
next gig at the venue. 15$ cover for all you can eat & drink
wings and bud/light! lol

run from the DI to your PA.. EQ your tone at the mixer for FOH.. use the 210 on stage as a monitor, EQ on your head to the tone you like, but try to get a general match between the stage and the PA.. if you have a stage monitor, run through the monitor to help spread out the overall sound.. try to position your cab near a back wall, or preferably in a corner.. if you have a way of tilting the cab up, do that so that the sound isn't ankle level.. or if you have a combo amp stand, use that..

no, the DI is not going to draw any power from your head.. but your output will be less than using the 15 with the 210..

if the gig is in a small bar, you should be fine with just the 210..

man.. 15 cover, all you can eat wings/bud light.. that sounds really good..

good luck with the gig..

nice.. i could deal with a gig like that..

watch it with your cabs, they seem to pop speakers.. a buddy of mine has had the 10s in his GL410 replaced twice.. not too loud and light on the lows.. let the PA do all the work..

wings, beer and money.. damn.. my gigs are like the Blues Brothers.. "Oh, yeah, $200, and you boys drank $300 worth of beer." lol...

hah! great movie.

the amp has this fancy -10db button, ill turn that off and
pretty much use it as a monitor like you said. i DI into our
PA anyway so i really dont go past 5/6 but thats usually
with the two cabs. ill mess with the EQ and make sure im
going heavy through our sub and mains. yea i read about
that all the time... ive had this set up for a few months now
knock on wood its been fantastic.. i think going DI most
shows has helped though. it really only becomes something
for the drummer and i to hear.

thanks again.
