I don't know if they sale them are not. But the salesman at Sam Ash music told me, that GK was the best amp you could buy to play Jazz on it had a smoother and better bottom then any amp on the market. And it couldn't be beat for playing blues, but for country it sucks. I ask him what he played and he said, he played stand up bass. He also used a Acoustic Image amp, but most the time mic true the PA. I would like your opinions, I'am going back there in a couple of weeks to look a new bass.

First, ignore whatever that salesman says.

You can play jazz, rock, blues, even country (!) through a GK with excellent results. Same goes for Mesa, TC, Aguilar, Peavey, Orange, Ampeg, Carvin etc. etc. Any amp could be used for any type of music, basically.

GK makes good gear, so if the price is right and you like what you hear, just go for it.

One question remains though, which is the best amp for metal?

GK has some great jazz settings but so does every other manufacturer. I own a GK rig but in my opinion, Eden and EBS have the best sound for jazz.

If I ever see that guy again, I am just going to avoid him. Sometimes I don't think these guy's care who they hire. The best job for him, is to keep quiet and tune and keep guitars clean.

I've played jazz through my Peavey, SWR, Trace Elliot, Fender, and Markbass. Not one time did any of them tear a hole in the universe.

All amps have tone controls.

Those guys are idiots. Let your ears be your guide. I do think GK makes a good amp and I have a 400RB or 800RB in my equipment rider but I have heard guys get very good jazz sounds with a variety of amps. I once had a guy at GC tell me that 'Ampeg rocks' and that top names like Gene Simmons use it. I asked him 'when did Gene start using the upright'.

You can play just about any style of music through any amp, especially with all the amp modeling pedals out there today. That salesman was an idiot.

Just my two cents, but as a long time Eden guy, I'm having a hard time dialing in a good sound for Jazz with my mb212, but part of that is because the amp is very different from the Eden and I am "just getting to know it."

I come down here to Austin for my Job sometimes and stay with my cousin, which you all know Gary the one who went into the hospital. And I have a hard time with some of the music stores around here. Most of the time I ask you guys , then take your info and go to my local store if they have one try it. Then find it online most of the time cheaper and buy it.
