today i noticed something i found funny:
my MB200 has been super noisy when i got it (a week ago), really loud hiss at all volumes.
didn´t use it for some days while waiting for the ticket to send it back to the music store. but i just started practising, and switched it on to a)test and b)play at low volumes.
the hiss is nearly gone.
how come? do they need some days of "break-in", even without using?
hehe, or do they work better in the cold? (my room´s in the attic storey, so lower temp all through winter)

Not to mention its size and weight. It's nice to have an input for a cd player even though I don't think I will use it and it's nice to have a balanced d.i. as well. This will be perfect for me to take to practice and use as a back head at gigs. Plus because of it's size it fits perfectly on my pedaltrain. Great bass amp.

Learning songs, with or without headphones.

It suddenly stopped doing that and I thought I might keep it, but it started again yesterday, so I packed it up and sent it back.
I thought it sounded great when working properly. I'm normally an Ampeg guy, but I liked the sound of it better than my Ampeg Micro VR (through my two 1x10 cabinets). I'm gonna get another. |

I'm gonna get another. | I sent mine back for "hiss" last week, but based on some of the other comments here, I decided to take a chance on another MB200 rather than giving up. I should get the replacement this week. I'm hoping for the best, but I really have to wonder how many are out there making noise that are just being accepted or aren't being recognized as noisy because of expectations or because of the circumstances of their use (always in busy environments, no HF in the cabinet, etc.). |

I could switch it off for about five minutes and play it again for a while before it would start up again. I liked it so much that I probably would have lived with a little hiss, as long as it was not too bad. Due to the loud, whining sound, the one I had was useless. |

Curious why you went with an Ampeg instead of exchanging it to try for a non-defective one though? |

I would have exchanged the MB200 for another, but when I contacted the retailer by email, they sent me an email saying the case was resolved, and that they had issued a shipping label. So I sent it back. I'll probably get another one the next time I see a 15% off deal or something similar. |

I'm gonna get another. | One of the MB200's I tried at a G.C. here had that high pitched noise and I thought there was something wrong with it. Then when I played the one I bought at another G.C. it had no problems at all. So far so good with mine. But there obivious problems that GK needs to address from what I have read here on this thread. If something goes wrong with mine you can bet that it will be going back to G.C.

Leon | Good to see you to Leon. Thanks for pointing me in the direction of this amp. If it works out it will solve a lot of my gigging needs.
