GK MB combo amp question

Sign in to disble this ad
I am planning on buying either the MB210 or 212 but am wondering if it is possible to run my bass thru 1 input (passive) while plugging my keyboard into the active input at the same? My Fender has EMG's which aren't really hot so I plug it in the passive jack in every amp I use. Currently, I run my keyboard to play synth bass parts out of my Markbass LM 2's effects loop. I don't wanna bring 2 amps so if this can be done, I most definitely will get either one of the GK's.

The inputs are designed to allow this. There will be some interaction between the jacks since the connection is passive.

ok, thanks. Now that I've read reviews on these amps, I am thinking that I may just go with the MB115. From what I've read it's plenty powerful.

I have been looking at the MB115, im currently using a Ampeg BA115, love the lows and the tone of Ampeg but with only 100 watts it doesnt cut through 2 guitars and drums at practice very well. Plus my BA weighs 65 lbs. so 200 watt 15inch combo that is 35 lbs. sounds awesome. The MB210/212 is 500 watts and you can run a extension cabinet with it, but the amp is $200.00+ dollars more than the 115, then a cabinet with a 15 in it is another $300.00 so if money isnt a issue i would go with the 210/212, but for my budget the 115 is fine for practice and i run through the house PA at gigs anyways

But only the MB210 allows an extension cab! So if you think you want another cab you need to get the MB210, and not the 115 or 212.

Gotta say, again, how awesome I still think it is that the president of the frickin company weighs in with info. Always reminds me of that scene in Annie Hall. (You young ppl don't know nothin' 'bout Annie Hall.)

Another option would be to plug your keys into the MB210/212's 1/8" aux. in.

If you look at the BLOCK diagrams in the MB Combos manual...

http://www.gallien-krueger.com/produ...60-0520-B0.pdf

...you'll see that the aux. in is after the pre-amp and ahead of the master volume etc.
