Unhappy GK MB115 (Noisy DI !!!!!!)

I love the weight , and the power from this little guy.
I usually run a DI Box from my Ashdown 515 to the PA with no problem.

I thought it would be nice to have the built in DI in my MB115, and run it straight to the PA, the same way I used a DI box, WRONG!!

The amp was not powered up yet ,and I was getting this nasty hum. I turned on the amp, and the hum was unbearable. I switched XLR cords ,the same thing happened. I had to mike the amp through the same channel, and everything was fine. The singer likes to hear everyone through the monitors, that is the only reason for trying to use the DI.

The amp is still under warranty.. I just need to fill out the card.. Is there a special cord that GK makes to maybe fix this problem???

It just sucks if I have to ship this amp to GK, to be repaired, and have no amp in the meantime..

According to this the XLR's pin #3 is not grounded, therefore the DI out on these combos shouldn't hum from ground loops.

GK MB115

That is exactly what DI from the MB115 sounds like..(When I flip the ground switch on my DI box I get a nasty humming noise)

I'm thinking of trying one of these amps but I understand they are digital. How do they sound? I mean, are they warm sounding or more on the modern/sterile side?

There's a pretty big thread/write up about the new MB's somewhere. I'll post a link if I can find it.

Edit:GK Combo Shootout...MB210 vs. MB212
