GK MB115 vs MB210 volume?

Sign in to disble this ad
How do these compare for volume and headroom? Will the MB210 be able to handle much bigger gigs? I know the 210 has the extension cab output but I'm more interested in hearing about the combos on their own.

Straight out of the box the 210 blows the 115 away>

Tried these both out and loved the 210 as a standalone cab. The 115 left me wanting more... a lot more. Add to that you can add the extension cab and the 210 is the clear winner of these two.

With that said if a simple small practice amp is what you are after the 115 is a good sounding combo, but if you want to play with a band and do small to medium venues go with the 210. add the extension ad you should be good for most situtations.

Thanks for this. I was wondering the same. $200 more is a lot though. Have you played any other amps in the $500 range? Any thoughts?

The $500 market is kind of tough. It is the same market I am in and have played and tried like every combination of new and used stuff in it. I have played some great used gear but that is kind of hard to evaluate as what I have and have had available to me is not always what you will be seeing in your area. As far as new stuff goes well I started looking at the Acoustic stuff. The B200 combo is one that I keep going back to. I love the sound. It is big rich deep full bass, but it is heavy and at only 200 watts it is loud but I question how long it would last with what I am doing (there is no ecxtension option available). I just played on a Peavy TNT115 the other day and my god does that thing have some volume. It is reasonable as far as weight, but it is big. Not sure how it will fit in the car, and not greatly impressed with the tone. Right afer I got done playing that I plugged into a MB210 and thought I would rather spend the extra $100 for the gk. As far as the Acoustic 210 combo I would run the other way. Played it and it just sounded week and hollow. It to is extremely heavy and my back says no way. I am about to start looking at the Ampeg stuff this weekend. I will let you know how that goes. hope this helps. By the way GC has a couple of used MB210 for $400 to $450 and there shipping is really cheap.

I changed my mind. I went and played the mb115 again on Friday and ended up buying one. So far it is very good combo. I won't get to play with drums until this next Friday, but played well in the store and had great volume. Maybe the first one i played had a problem, but this one was amazing in tone and volume Got it home and think the same. Great GK tone and growl with ample volume. In looking at it against the mb210 I came to the conclusion that if I ever need more volume than what this cab can give me I am simply going to buy another one and an A/B switch. I think it will end up being cheaper lighter and sound as good if not better than a mb210 with an extension cab.

Just picked up a MB210 this weekend after playing them both. Went back and forth for a while about the 115 but in the end, I liked the 210 tone better (especially for fretless which I play a lot of - and for the higher notes) and liked that it is upgradeable (never thought of the A/B switch smgleitch). Loved both though - actually liked the funk/slap/pop better on the 115. 210 sounded more "refined" and tight to my ears.

I've always gotten just what I need in the past and thought it was time to get something that is more than I need so it will last.
