GK MB115e - Which Version (ohms) Do I Need?

Sign in to disble this ad
I have been thinking about getting a GK MB500 Bass Amp Head

I plan on pairing this with a set of 1x15 and 2x10 cabinets. However, I have a question about Ohms.

The head says it will run 500W @ 4 ohms, 350W @ 8 ohms and has 2 outputs on the back.

I already own a GK MB210 not the MBE version, but the MB combo version. However, the head blew out on me. I tried to get it repaired but I bought it used from musician'sfriend and am not covered under warrenty.

To get to the point, I'm essentially screwed on the head portion of the MB210 combo but the speakers still work. I am unsure what the OHMS rating on the actual speakers would be. The head was rated at 500w@4ohms and 350w@8ohms. There is an output/input on the back that says Minimum 8ohms.

Considering the above information, I am wondering which MBE1x15 I would need to purchase? The 200w@4ohms version or the 400w@8ohms version?

If you plan on pairing the 1x15 with the 2x10 then go with the 8ohm version. I would bet that the speakers in the MB210 are 8ohm as well. When run through the MB500 you would be at 4 ohms with both cabs connected. Hope this helps!
