I LOVE my MB2 500 amp! Great tone and freaking loud (almost too loud)! It's also very lightweight and portable. I was cranking the amp today and it only got slightly lukewarm (temperature-wise).
Everyone should own this amp! Even if you love your other amp, with the GK's small size and portability it would be perfect as a backup amp.
I have owned several amps from Carvin, SWR, Ampeg, Peavey, Yamaha, Sunn, Fender, Univox, Mesa, Ashdown, etc. For the price, portability, ease of use, features, power and tone GK MB2 500 is the best!

That low eq knob has so much goodness it's usually about 10 o'clock, had to re-glue one of my cabs it has so much oomph. I also have to carry a couple of grippy pads for it to sit on lest it dance off the cab. |

I had an exhaustive MB-500 thread going on when there weren't many gig reports of this head; it's at http://www.talkbass.com/forum/showth...48#post9261248 and contains (a few pages in) some gain settings tips that might be helpful.

I replaced everything from cables, basses, amps (A-B ed) cabs, and the hiss is still there. I checked all the switches, etc. Hiss still there.
I love this amp but gotta ask if anyone else has experienced a hissing sound with the amp.
Brian Clark told me to send it back to Musician's Friend. I'm going to do that but am curious if this is a sound that others have experienced?
Please don't start a new thread for me. I already did but want opinions from you guys.
thanks

| | | | +1. had mine for about 3 weeks now, and it's the most fun i've had playing in a very long time. my sound is finally clear, and it's plenty loud for whatever situation. plus, it's nice that it fits in my gig bag also. |

| | | | I'm tempted to order the GK soft bag for this head. Anyone have one and have an opinion on it?

| | Registered User | | Join Date: Jul 2005 Location: Atlanta, GA | | I have one I love it as well. Actually this is my second time having one so to speak. I bought as a backup to my Eden WT-550, then I sold it to the other bass player at my church. From there I ending up wanting to go lighter so I traded my Eden For a MM Jazz Bass and bought one of the new Crown XLS power amps. Ended up not being "my cup of tea". I wanted something I could carry without a rack case, so I bought back my MB2-500 from my friend who loved it but whom is now buying an MB Fusion. In conclusion, its the amp for me, right now. its light enough to carry to carry to a gig, studio or wherever, loud enough to do any gig I play, and built with quality with a company with excellent costumer service. Also have a GK Neo 4x10 and they sound great together.

Before I was going to pay for the shipping costs of returning it, I wanted to make sure I did everything I could to fix the problem and make sure it wasn't a bone head mistake on my part. So, I called Brian today and he picked the phone right up and was generous with his time.
We've decided to send the amp directly to GK to have it looked at.
Anyway, I played through the MB Fusion again today and love it even more than the first day I got it. I'm really digging the sound and can't wait to get it back.
I was going to try it this weekend on my upright, jazz/wedding gig but I chickened out as I didn't want to make a fuss switching amps on the gig. I just left it in the car.
I'm definitely excited about finding this amp. It's definitely more my cup of tea vs the Genz 9.0 which I ended up returning. The 9.0 sounded very good with my bigger cabs but it just didn't wow me.
