If it isn't thrashed, that's a great price. Look at the Serial Number/ Model on the label. If it isn't an 'A07' send to to GK where they will update it. basically you then have an MB500.

My A07 has been a workhorse for me!

Not sure I'd heard that. Noise and Eq points was what I recall. I've run my A07 hard w/o heat issues. mechanically I believe them to be the same.

Next step is contact GK Customer Service and get it sent to them for the retrofit.

I just put a clearance one on layaway, too - pending research. I love G-K tone, but the MB2-500s rep is scaring me a little.

I'm searching past posts on the topic now, but is the MB500 a huge improvement over the MB2?

The MB500 is the same amp as the A07 version of the MB2-500. It seems that the name was changed to divorce it from the issues of the MB2 that required 7 updates.

FWIW, not all pre A07 versions had problems and you will find a bunch of folks who have been gigging with early MB2 versions without problem. That being said, if GK is still offering free upgrades, why not ?

I was looking at the MB2-500 and the MB-500....

But I went to the MB-800 Shipping 7/22.

BTW, great price on the MB2-500!

And not all or even many of the issues were serious. Much of it was involving the center freq's on the tone stack... GK's customer service has been second to none with these amps as well.

How do they handle the upgrades - do they swap the whole head out or patch yours?

mb2500

I am interested in the MB800 but I do not care to be a Beta tester. I will wait to see how people like the 800 before buying. I'm not saying the 800 will have problems but I got burned buying an item when it was first released (not a GK product) and am shy of anything new until it has been reviewed by others. Fortunately, so many guys have GAS that they will gladly be the Beta testers for the rest of us.

Depends on the rev I believe, last I heard G-K would just swap units.

My GK MB2-500 is roughfully 1-1/2 years old now.
It's been gigged two to three nights a week plus rehearsals.
No bumps in the road thus far!!!
